Hi guys!

I've been looking for a site like this forever.  I'm so glad I found you!!!

I've had RA since I was 22 (27 now).  I've been on my gammet of meds (Celabrex, Relafan, Methotrexate, Prednisone).  It's been a really long time since I've done anything but pred due to pregnancy & breastfeeding.

Prednisone made me gain a ton of weight, then I went and had a baby, so basically, I'm in terrible shape.  I'm trying very hard to loose weight, I'm even on Slim Fast.  I've been weaning my pred doses and I'm down to 1mg a day, WOO HOO!  But I'm starting to get very sore. :(

Can anyone please tell me an anti-inflamitory med that doesn't cause weight gain, or at least not as much as prednisone?  Like I said, I can't really remember what happened when I was on the others.  I just want to know your experiences.

I have a feeling I'd be okay with 2.5 or 3.5mg of pred for now, but again, the weight issue.

You know, you have to wiegh, fat and functional, or slim and miserable?  Ugh, does it ever end?

TIA everybody, so glad I found you!!!!!

Welcome Lynz!! We're glad you're here. This is a great place to meet new friends, get advice and hear other's first hand experiences.

As to your question to anti-inflamatories; I persoanlly got very little relief from any of them. I was dignosed about the same time you were....now 11 years later I'm on MTX and Humira weekly.

I've taken predisone off and on all these years too. A good bit in the beginning to try to get me under control and I guess it's been about 8 months since my last round just to get me through a flair. I completely understand about the weight gain, but I hate the way that stuff makes me feel. I feel like I could rip someones head off for looking at me wrong. I don't like it; but it does make me feel better physically if not mentally.

Again; Welcome to the group. I'll look forward to hearing more from you.

Lovie

Lovie,

Thanks for the warm welcome.  I'm glad it's not just me that feels that way with pred.  I'm sorry to hear not many of the other anti-inflamitories worked well for you.

Yes, I'm VERY excited to join a communty like this.  I don't know anyone else personally who suffers from RA.

Thanks again!

That's what's made us all fast friends. Few of us have anyone in our life that understand first hand exactly what we're feeling.

Everyday you can find someone here that has felt exactly what you're feeling...whether it be physical or mental; and we all have plenty of that too.

That's what makes it so special. All of us have people in our life that love us and try really hard to understand...but fact is; unless you've been there you can not even begin to understand.

I absolutely LOVE your daughters name. That's beautiful.

Aww, you're making my day.  This is the best thing that's happened to me in a long time.  And thanks for the compliment on my little peanut.  She's just as special as her name!
