We walk the same path | Arthritis Information

I thought I walked this road alone. I looked forward and back and couldn't see anyone. I was in pain and could find no solace. So, long I traveled without a companion, without a friend to bear my grief, to make me laugh, to let me cry.

Then, in an accidental search, I found I was not alone. So many are on the same path. Each one is hurting. Each one is afraid. Struggling, we pull ourselves along, unsure of our destination and what tomorrow brings.

But now, we are not alone. There is a friend to make me laugh and let me cry. Someone who whispers answers to questions I've been afraid to ask. Here is comfort found in the same choking pain.

We are modified from our beginning, each of us. Our former lives torn and shredded by an ailment that sneaks in and steals from us like a horrid desert rat. A piece is gone here, another there, and it seems it never ends.

I fear the darkness ahead. But here's my hand. We'll take the path together. A step at a time. "Here, this will help," you comfort me and I in turn give you some clue.

It is a mystery without a conclusion. It is the same path, but different for all. It is mine and it is yours and when we are here, it is ours.

That was great.

Man, there're so many hands, grad hold of a couple and multiply your strength.

Thankyou! That was really lovely to read.  Uplifting and inspiring.

Really enjoyed that.  Bravo and keep up the uplifting words for the rest of us

Who knew we had a poet in our mist? Thanks for sharing!

Deanna...that is beautiful.  And you have always been one to offer a hand.  Thank you :)

Deanna is our resident writer.  Someday, our names may be mentioned in her memoirs - crunchy, dar, lovie, rox, kelstev, training girl,.................

Deanna, thank you for such an inspiring poem.  I made a copy for myself.

You are very gifted.

Trisha

OK Deanna, Roxy said that maybe one day you will write your memoirs and it may include her.

Well I guess you better get busy and write one about roxys PIB problem LOLOL

Trisha

Thanks for all the comments. You all make me feel good about it. I may just have to add Roxy's PIB in my RA Memoirs. Oh, Roxy, forgive me but you've made me laugh and laugh at your pain. So sorry.

But you can laugh at mine.

Deana, are you a poet?  It is so touching and sentimental.  Thank you.

I have found the antibiotic treatment. I started it nearly a month ago, and pain has been less, especially the throbbing.   Minocycline works and effective.  Most of all, it has few side effects.  I just want to share the information here.   Anyone interested can visit www.roadback.org

I guess I am a poet. But it is something I just do from time to time. It's nice to know everyone has enjoyed it. It's how I feel, that's all.

I am very curious about this antibiotic treatment. From what I had read before it was used in early cases and was only effective for those with infectious RA. This article seems to indicate otherwise.

Do you know if it is effective for people that have had RA for several years? Also, did you have any trouble in getting your RD to try it?

I am happy you have found something that is giving you relief.

Deanna,
According to a recent survey, about 90% RA are
satisfied with AT treatment.  There are so many people
who have severe RA go into remission with the help of
minocycline.  I was half-believed until I added Mino
into my drug regimen.  I used to wait axiously for the
next injection, but since I added Mino, I don't feel
the urgency and bacically no pain. To be safe, you can
just add Mino, not daily, but 100 meg only on MWF,
because paulse therapy is more effective than daily
dosage.  You can observe the effect to see if it works
or not.  If it works, you can gradually reduce TNF and
MTX in a few months.  To get a good idea about the
therapy, check roadback.org. Just ask your primarycare
doctor and tell her that you want to try antibiotic
therapy.  In just one month, I have off Enbrel, and
yesteday was my MTX day, but I decided to wait today
to see what would happen.  Nothing.  No pain.  So,
maybe I will get rid of MTX.
It doesn't hurt to give it a try, right?
Email me if you need:xinghunglo@yahoo.com  So an antibiotic is suppose to get rid of the pain in my joints. Ive beeen on several antiobiotics for long periods of time. I dont see how it would help. Before I was diagnosted I was on an antiobiotic because they thought I had an infection. Nothing happened there.I have heard of antibiotic therapy being effective.  Kathleen Turner used it.  My concern is since we are on all of these immunosuppressant drugs and I personally have had problems healing, would it be good for me to take antibiotics on a regular basis?  There is no doubt that it takes me way longer to get over normal colds and cuts and bruises.  What do you think ?

Phxgirl and Roxy,

Antibiotic therapy has to be for a long term, low dosage.  High dosage is less effective.   The changes are subtle.  Symptoms maybe worse at first before getting better.  I am only on it for less than a month and can't have much to say, just feel the benefits.  If on MTX and TNF for a long time, we have the healing problems because our white blood cells are low and we have weak immu system to fight infection.  Antibiotics are said to have very few side effect that has attracted me.   Hopefully, my friends, be open-minded and give it a try: just add it into yur drug regimen to see what has happened.  Be patient, especially for severe RAs.  Do not expect one day change.  Visit Roadback.org to read and get information.  This therapy maybe our best choice becasue it is very safe even if for the rest of our lives.   To survive, we must be open-minded...
