 Hi

I have posted here before and now i'm posting agian. I have tested HIGH Pos for both the Anti-CCP and RF. I'm being watched by a rheummy to see what happens. I do have a sis with RA and I have three differant autoimmune disease myself. So I 'm hoping the test was flawed or that I'm an Odd Duck

If anyone else out there has tested Pos but is not DX please let me know what is happening with you. Are you being watched as well? What have you been told? did they give you any odds?

Thanks Kat

Why does your rheumatologist think you do not have RA?  Do you have any symptoms along with your bloodwork?  My rheumy said with all of my symptoms, when she saw the positive anti-CCP...that is what made her definitively diagnose me with it.

  HI,

No at this point I do not have RA, I have OA. I do not have the pain ,swelling, reddness, warmth or sed rate. I was just dx with another autoimmune disease and that is why they did the blood work.

The odds are so high when lookng up these test results on line. Mine are very very High.

I don't get why you haven't been diagnosed.  My rheumy said the anti-ccp test is a very good indicator of RA.  I've researched this test online and read that a positive test indicates that RA is present, even if there aren't many symptoms.  Do you have pain?  I myself haven't been diagnosed either.  I'm getting the anti-CCP next month.  Right now, my CRP is elevated and my ANA is positive.  My hands ache often as well as both elbows & shoulders.  I've had the aching hands for a few years off and on, but lately, I'm having to rethink the way I navigate through my day--like lifting things and opening jars.  I really want an answer and I hate this waiting!  What other auto immune dis. do you have?

I will copy and paste some information about the anti-ccp.  I hope this helps:

Should you be measuring RF and anti CCP antibodies if you have joint pains; and what should you do if the test is positive.

The diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis depends on the number of joints involved, the amount of inflammation and the presence of distinctive signs of joint damage on x-ray. The diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis is not made merely on the presence of RF or antibodies to CCP in the circulation. Self-diagnosis merely on the basis of these tests is not to be recommended. In any case, even if rheumatoid arthritis were to develop on the basis of pre-existing tests, this may take many years and may never happen. Finally, there is no way of preventing the development of rheumatoid arthritis even if these tests are positive.

Researchers also reported that citrulline antibody is associated with the risk of eventual development of rheumatoid arthritis and may present even up to 12 years prior to development of rheumatoid arthritis. Now, it should be noted that this does not mean that because you have citrulline antibody or rheumatoid factor present you will definitely develop rheumatoid arthritis. It just means that doctors will need to be monitoring your situation over time and should symptoms develop that are consistent with rheumatoid disease, treatment may be warranted.

 Hey Tomas,

Thank You so much for this info. I have searched on line for a while now and I have not come across this artical. It dose give some hope that someone may not develop RA who has pos test resultes.

I went to see a specalist for another problem and he has done extensive blood work including all three RF factors. Depending on how high these leves are in these three factors can/will perdict the development of RA.

I will see him in a weeks.

 Tom keep me posted
