From what I have experienced pain is a huge part of the equation during a flare.  I am having symptoms but it isn't just the pain.  It is hard to sit up for very long because my shoulders, arms and hands hurt, my upper body feels too heavy to hold up and I feel like I need to lay down.  And I cannot walk for very long because my legs not only hurt but feel like they are giving in.   Does this sound familiar?  I have been doing so much better as of late, but now these symptoms seem to be creeping back in the afternoons.  I keep hoping it is short lived!   Or do you think it part of the disease progression? Susan LeeThat was how I felt before I was on medication, and it just kept getting progressively worse.  I was in a living hell for nearly two months before I saw a doctor.  I look back wondering how I survived.  I needed to have assisted living, I barely got by, unable to walk most of the time, couldn't lift a glass to drink or turn a door knob.

It will probably come and go like that at times in our lives when medications are not working for us.  I hope it goes away.  I know it is no fun to feel that way.  It could be something you ate, the weather, heck anything can bring on the symptoms and it is hard to tell what.  Just take good care of yourself and do whatever you have to do to get some relief.
Thanks so much for your reply.  I guess I just haven't had a lot of symptoms since I started back on Prednisone with my Enbrel.  And you always wish it would just all go away :)  Even during my good times, I always have trouble in the morning with stiffness, I can live with that.  But this is harder.  Funny though, I quit trying to figure out why it was all happening many years ago.  Such a waste of energy that we have in short supply in the first place:)!  Take care...Susan Lee

But there's no reason to remain in pain without first checking if the doc has a solution especially when it is hitting you this hard.
