When to increase Humira? | Arthritis Information

At what point do  dr's decide to increase the Humira dose from every other week to every week?  I took my 4th shot May 6. I am due day after tomorrow. It seems the shots wear off after about  5 or 6 days.  Right now I am literally counting the hours til 8 am Friday.  All my affected joints are very swollen, I'm crabby withh pain, started crying this morning.

Humira works GREAT, it just wears off too fast...

Kathy,

I would speak with your doc before you do anything. I am not too familiar with Humira as it didn't work for me but maybe if it wears off too quickly, you might need a higher dose or maybe another medication along with it.
My med dose was just increased because it too was wearing off too quickly. See what your doc says.

I hope you feel better soon!

Been there Kathy.

I started bi-weekly injections in December and my doctor has just increased it to weekly. My actual first weekly dose will be Saturday!! Yeah!! I never thought I'd be excited to have to be doing these shots every week...but like you I wasn't getting a full 14 days out of mine either.

He'll probable want you to give it a full three months. I'm not sure.

After about 6 months on Humira, it was helping but not quite enough. My doctor changed me to once a week. I have felt a difference. I had to have some sugary and could not take it for 2 weeks. OMG! That was the longest 2 weeks of my life. It, was like night and day. Talk to your doctor. Good luck! Gina
