A few weeks ago I asked for advice about traveling to the Netherlands. Just wanted to let everyone know I have cleared trip with my Rheumatoligist. He wasn't to thrilled with the idea, but didn't want me to miss out on oppurtunity.  He wants to bump my prednison up to 20 mg a day for the trip and I got 2 cortizone shots in really bad joints, knee and elbow. I hate the steroids, but I know they will help on trip.Tickets purchased and we will leave on 7/10 and return on 7/24. I am really excited and wanted to thank everyone for the great advice in my original post.

That is fabulous!! Have a great time Hutch! and remember . . . we want to see pictures when you get back.Yes pictures and have a wonderful, incredible, irreplaceable time. And tell us all about it. I love to hear about other people's travels.Deanna38877.4449189815That's great Hutch!! I'm sure it'll be a most wonderful trip for you and your family

I think the extra predisone while you travel is a good idea.

Enjoy you're trip!!

I used to work with a pharmacist who was a product of the sixties for sure.  Anyway, they were working on the tiles in the hall outside her office and there was a sign that said, "Tripping hazard."  The next time I went in to see her, she was making like she was really high and saying, "I just stepped through the tripping hazard."  (LOL)  When I saw the title of this thread I must say, that was the first thing that came to mind.

Have a wonderful, pain free trip and be sure to check in when you return.

How cool is that?!? Congratulations, Hutch. Flying is a little like childbirth - you forget the pain once you get where you're going. Have a fabulous trip - allow yourself plenty of time - to see things, to get where you're going, and to rest in between. Can't wait to hear how it went! I am green with envy! Have a great time! You will have a fabulous time.  I spent 3 days in Amsterdam abou 15 years ago and I loved it.  The people were so friendly and helpful. How wonderful! I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself.

Good for you, Hutch.  Have fun!

Traveling is my favorite thing, and my rheumy knows it.  He also knows better than to even try to discourage it.  I'm going to Italy in September for a wedding.  Told the doc, and he said we'll just be sure you have enough prednisone.  Don't start it unless you have to, but if a flare starts, you know what to do.  I love that he just goes along with what I do with my life, and helps me work around it.  The only problem traveling, especially long trips like this, is keeping the meds cold the whole time.  A pain in the *%#@, but definitely workable...

How exciting Hutch.  You have to live life to the fullest.  GO FOR IT
