Worry drives flare | Arthritis Information

Well, I certainly overdid the worrying and now I am paying for it. My hip, which only acts up occassionally, has decided to reacquaint me with the pain it can invade on my life. I already hurt bad enough.

I hate this disease and the pain it brings. It seems to know no limits to the agony it can inflict and the number of places it can attack.

Does anyone else get really bad stomachaches right before a flare? I do all the time.

You know, this is an odd subject as "yes" I do.

My husband and I have realized the more messed up my stomach is, the worse my flairs will be.

It doesn't have to burn, sometimes i don't know it is building up gas inside when i have the flair, but i take my prilosec that i was told to take daily and I believe it keeps a lot of the flair away.

But that is odd, not sure why but the worse my stomach is the worse my flairs will be.

You know, come to think of it, I do too! Never thought about it before.  I guess part of it is because of the stress, and then also the increase in all of the meds. Lovely!Just great!!  Never put the two together but my stomach does it too.  All day yesterday and this morning it has sounded and felt like Mt. St. Helen's.  Get ready...here she comes. wow i thought it was just me , Also i can't taste anything its like my taste buds are inflamed,  prevacid helps a lot . (i get samples from my doctors sure saves on money). Well I am off to the rheumy just wanted to stop in and get my courage up for her. ( oh i pray she is in a good mood ) Husband couldn't go with me he has a doctor appt too

My thoughts are sure with you. Hang tough and get what you need from the doctor. It is so important that you feel better. Hope your husband is okay too.

I am not worried about anything, but I have woken with serious pain every morning.  My right wrist and knee are so painful -- along with various other joints.
I hope we all feel better soon.  This just sucks.

arizonara,

Love your avatar. You might think you are not worried. But you are very stressed. Stress makes you flare big time. When was your last visit to the doctor and did you have them do films on those joints. Damage happens really quickly.

Sometimes, you go in, and you look okay. And, if it's one of better days, you don't mention that certain things are a problem. They do a quick look and off you go. You have to be very specific because unless you're limping or have a new deformity, they see you as pretty well intact.

You've spoken about your knee before. What are they doing about it? Or, are you still waiting on insurance? If you have been awarded the insurance, but don't have the card yet, you can still start the process of getting an appointment set up. You only need the number from the insurance. If you have to see a primary for your referral, try and get in pronto and then have that doctor push to get you to the RD.

See, I know you have a lot to worry about.

I think you are right.  I don't really admit to myself what is going on.  I can be so grouchy and miserable and not even realize it.  I live in denial a lot.  lol

I did get my insurance card and it says that x-rays are covered.  I really hope to get a good doctor and some good treatment soon.  I love my doctor now, but she doesn't take this insurance, so there is another worry.  Denial is comforting. I like to live there. But you sound so much better today. There's hope in your outlook. One thing at a time and you'll make it just fine.

Now that yo mention it I think there is a connection between the stomach and flares. I have either irritable bowel syndrome or diverticulitis and right after stomach problems I seem to have flares. I never put the two together before.

Yeah, it's like my warning sign. So sometimes, I will try and rest a bit more and head it off.Me too...with the stomach issues. I have always had
IBS or something, but it really does coincide with the
flares. :-(
