This has been a bad afternoon for me. I have been nauseous since late this morning. Oh yes, fatigue somewhat worse and a few sores in my mouth and on my lip.
I just had another thought as to what caused it. The pond water that I drank on my way to Constantinople!!! Trisha Good luck. Hey Gracie, you have the same birthday as my baby sister. Can anyone direct me to that pond? I really need to get to Constanople. I have to get those body parts. I promise not to drink the water. Is the spring on the way there? And, how do I avoid that frog thing? How miserable. Try keeping some water and ibuprofen by your bed. I take tylenol if I wake up in the night, and it makes it easier to move in the morning. But I am not off all my meds. Sounds like you are doing what you can to survive. Hold in there. Teri, I really, really feel for you. I don't think I could handle it at all.
Trisha-I had the same problems when my dosage
was first increased. After about 3 weeks it got much
better, and I hardly have any nausea any more.
I also take folic acid and that seems to control most
of the mouth sores.
Hang in there!!
(and stay away from the pond water, k? )
Hi Trisha.
When the mtx makes me nauseous, I take a drug called Motillium (active ingrediant is domperidone). It is an anti-nausea drug, often prescribed to chemo patients.
Nausea is horrible, so I hope it goes away soon.
hey Trish, I noticed a difference between the doses of 12.5 and 15 mg.
There are many meds for nausea, some are expensive and some are cheap but make you sleepy. Here is a good one that comes in generic and wont make you sleepy. It is called Reglan, the generic is metoclopromide. For the mouth sores make sure you are taking 2400-2800mcg of folic acid daily and ora-jel before meals. Dont over use the ora-jel though, it can slow the healing process. Also take ibuprofen to relieve the swelling and pain from the sores. No foods with citric acid (orange/lemon/tomato) and nothing crumbly.
Mouth sores suck. I have always been prone to them, even before MTX. If I forget my folic acid for a few days, I get them really bad.
Also keeping a cup of ice water with a straw to sip on helps to keep your mouth moist and cool.
I thank you all for you replies!!
It means so much when you can get help with this RA, 24 hrs. a day. You gals are awesome.
Gracie, your birthday date & my daughters birthday are the same. She was born on Easter Saturday, April 13, 1963. About the pond water. If you have read all the post on here you will see that we are all trying to get to Constantinople. I just happened to get involved with a Prince who had a handsome head on a frogs body and smelled like a skunk! It is a long story and if you haven't read it, you better, so you won't think that I'm completely NUTZ-O. You to Tara. LOL Deanna knows all about the journey! She is lookin for some parts.lol You girls have a great day!!!!
Trisha Glad you are feeling better today. Everyone here is so great...and I learn new stuff every day. Now about the pond water, I know ya'll are going on a journey...just be careful, you never know what happends in those ponds!! And maybe I'll pop out behind a tree and join you some time. Have a great Friday I've been on MTX for close to three years now I guess. I'm up to 25mg now and pretty much everytime I increase I experience more side effects than usual until my body readjust. It just takes a little while. I've been bad to get mouth sores on the outside of my lips since I was a child. I don't really think mine are from MTX because I've gotten them since childhood. (THe sun can cause them quick!) Once you've had them a while you feel them before you see them, this is the time to use medication. If you wait until their huge and hurt medication won't help much. I bought some stuff in the drug store called: ViraMedx. It's really expensive but if you get the ones on the outsides of your lips like I do you'd pay just about anything to help them. It's a little tiny bottle of the stuff; but it does last a long time. I've heard the yogerts a good idea too. No doubt that's a good idea for the ones inside of your mouth. Hope you continue to feel better!!
I tend to try the remedies that people suggest, because they've all been there.
