Has anyone had migraines with the Ra. I'll tell you the headache took away all the pain everywhere else. I could hardly walk my blood pressure was high, no fever, even the sound of the air blowing the the vents in my house sounded like a train going through my head. That headaches also made me vomit for two days. Couldn't hardly get out of bed. Anyone have this problem. It took a day or so to get rid of after two shots and lots of percocet. I had another headche starting this morning so I had to take more pain pills and lay down to sleep felt alright for awhile now my head hurts. That why I haven't been on the forum for a while. I couldn't do anything.
Nichole I totally feel for you. I have had migraines for 31 years--a lot longer than I have had RA. Thankfully I have only had one since dx with the RA.
The light hurts, breathing hurts, moving hurts-it is a nightmare.
As I have gotten older the headaches are still bad but I no longer need shots for them.
Wouldn't you think with all the meds we take for pain the headaches would be gone forever??
I hope you continue to feel better.
Are these sudden headaches, as in you haven't had these kind before? Did they change your medications? Or, have you been taking lots of pain medicine?
Sudden headaches of the migraine variety should be checked out. Also, if you are on a very high dose of prednisone, it can cause headaches.
The other thing that can happen is that you can get what they call "cluster headaches" from taking too much pain killers. The treatment is to change the medications around and give you oxygen. If the oxygen takes away the headache, then they'll probably say that's what it is.
You blood pressure being high can contribute to a headache, but not of those proportions. If these get worse, you need to be checked at the doctor's or the ER. Even if they are migraines, there are particular medications that can help.
I wouldn't live with it. When I had this problem, early in my development of RA, they freaked. I hate that because they scare you needlessly. But the sudden onset is key. I didn't hardly ever have headaches before and BAM!!!! They did a CAT scan of my brain --which was okay, I do have one. They also did what they call a bilateral temporal biopsy. That was because the thought that the vessels in my head might be inflamed.
I don't want to scare you. Not at all. But with RA, all these wierd extra things can happen and you need to get them checked out. 90% of the time, it isn't anything. But once and awhile, it is really important to get it looked at.
I'm sorry you hurt. Are you light sensitive too?
I have also had migrains for about[QUOTE=phxgirl 1] I m extremely senstive to light blue eyes. [QUOTE]
I have never heard of that symptom before!
Get your self some help girl! Dont do that to you again!
The second thing, and I don't know if you are close or not, but Tempe St. Luke's is actually one of the least busy hospitals. Their ER staff is very good and their hospital is excellent. They may be small, but they are very efficient. I've been there several times with my daughter. Banner sucks for waiting. And, they don't always treat people very nice. But my daughter is a difficult patient for them and they did a good job. If the headaches get severe again, I would suggest going there. They also seem pretty good about running tests. I know, I couldnt imagine all of that noise with a migraine. Actually, I kind of can. I have been at work before and had them come on. It sucks. I caught it early enough before it was a full blown migraine and even then---ooohhhh! You could get someone to go with you so you could wait in the car instead of the waiting room. You still would have to go in to register and get triaged, but it could help. This may seem a little crazy, but you might want to get some of those earplugs, a scarf, and some very dark sun-glasses and put them in one place just in case you get another one and you have to go to the ER or doctors office. merry, sorry you are in so much misery. What are they going to try and do for you?
