Pain in the neck.... | Arthritis Information

It is weird, I took my Enbrel shot and MTX shot about 2 hours ago and about 30 min ago I started feeling kind of crummy. I got a crampy stomach, diarrhea (fun),mild nausea and my neck and shoulders got all tense, and a headache started setting in. All of my joints are sore now too. Is it a coincidence or does anyone get a funky feeling the first few hours after they medicate?

Crunchy,  I get a kind of light headed, queasy feeling after my Enbrel injection.  I always set myself up that I don't do anything for at least 30 minutes afterwards.  Thank God I have never had to do mtx shot.  mtx does not get along with me Crunchy, I hope you are feeling better. So sorry to hear about your side
effects. I try not to take my MTX and Humira on the same day. I usually
take the MTX at night. Sometimes I get light headed, but not much else I
can think of right now. Sounds like you need a Calgon moment!

Maybe you shouldn't be doing them at the same time. I do my Enbrel on Thursday night and take my MTX on Saturday. If anything, the Enbrel makes me a little livier and the MTX makes me tired and my stomach is always upset. But I take tablets.

But I think Lindy is right, you should call your doctor and describe your reactions. This isn't your first time with headaches, etc., is it?

No, I have pleanty of headaches. Actually, once I went to sleep and then woke up the next day (yesterday) I felt okay. I was doing them on 2 diff nights, but I like the idea of just getting it over with. I wonder if maybe I felt bad because I was stressing over taking the shots. I tend to react to stress after the fact. Just because I am used to giving and receiving injections doesnt stop me from agonizing over my weekly shots. I dont like it, I would rather not do it....but I still would rather the shot than the pills. I guess I will get used to it whether it is stress or side effects.---oh well---

Crunchy,

You crack me up, not your problem. The headahes are not funny. But you are the worst patient. Next time a nurse gives me a shot, I'll be thinking of you and wondering if that nurse has the same adversion to shots.

Any more, my veins just stand up and say, "here I am, take me!" Ornery, little devils, they think an IV is a good thing. And, blood work, I just keep giving and giving.

But if it's that stressful for you, can you get someone else to do the shots? When I do mine, I keep saying to myself, "this is good for me, this is good for me."

Am I a believer...I don't know. But I get the shots done.

I wish you weren't having such a hard time with this. Maybe once you start feeling better, it won't seem so hard.

crunchy when we taught pt to give the mtx and embrel shots the doctor and i told them to do them different days. You might want to check into it plus if you do them different days you get the benefit of both lasting longer.  If  i remember right i don't think your suppose to do them together. You also might want to mention it to your doctor sounds like a lot of side effects. I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks Giz.

Deanna, I am a terrible pt. I could bring them to work and get someone to do them. I dont really want to expose my jelly belly to any of my co-workers though.

Gizzy is right though. You do seem to have side effects. Maybe you should talk to the doctor.....hmmm... back to the bad patient routine. Tsk! Tsk! Tsk! What will we do with you?

Please, I'm begging you...lock me in a closet somewhere!

That's not going to help. Is your head hurting now?

Why won't you call the doctor and ask about this?

I agree that you probably shouldn't be taking the MTX and enbrel the same day. I take MTX on Fridays and enbrel on Wednesdays. They both can give me reactions of sore joints and muscle aches although sometimes I don't have any trouble with the enbrel. I always get a site reaction. I also can get a little bit o a runny nose and headache with the enbrel.Okay, I dont want to hear that I shouldnt take them at the same time...ya'll arent telling me what I want to hear!!! I was kind of wondering if they were compatible in the same syringe......I am kind of dangerous arent I??
