Well, how are you all doing with food?

I was doing so good for a while there, then BAM, I just fell off the healthy wagon.  I have started eating better for about two weeks now, maybe.

I have switched to eating salads more often and lowering the carb intake.  I read about keeping carbs and salts low while on prednisone.  I have lowered my salt intake a TON.  I never realized how many things have salt in them.  I have also added potassium to my daily vitamin regimen.

I can feel an improvement already since I started eating better -- AGAIN.  When will I learn and be able to keep it a constant habit?  I can never get past 2-3 months of a habit.

Let's talk food and diet, people. :)  In a good way -- even though it can be evil.
I totally hear ya...I need to get back to it too. My husband and I are planning a trip for September. We are looking at Jamaica or Hawaii--I wont be bikini ready, but I would like to lose at least 20 lbs. before we go.You know, it makes a big difference in how you FEEL, even if you aren't at your ideal weight.  I have even come to accept being a little bigger.  I just want to be at a size and shape that I feel comfortable and at home.  I am at the point where I don't feel comfortable in my own body anymore, and I haven't felt that way in a long time.

I try and eat healthy but like you I've been off the health wagon for the last week.  Yesterday was my first day back to getting rid of the bad carbs and cutting fat.  No sugar and lean meat, fresh veggies, fruit, low salt, and no snacking. Found a no sugar ice cream - called Purple Bunny or as Stan calls it cyanotic rabbit.  Anyway PB is really good and healthy.  I hope to shed some of the pred lbs.  I'm down to 13 mg. day.

Arizonara, I have been feeling the same way lately. I am accepting this extra weight now. In fact, I just bought more clothes in the larger size. I do feel miserable with the extra weight & the lovely round Prednisone cheeks.

Trisha

I have been on both sides of the weight balance.

I am trying to eat small portions and healthy.  I have gotten down to 115 and it has taken almost a year.  The prednisone makes me gain weight so fast and I have been on and off it for 2 years.

WELL 7 WKS AGO I HAD HAD ENOUGH I HAD BEEN GOING FOR ARTHRTIS WATER CLASSES FOR ABOUT 6 WKS WHEN I DECIDED TO JOIN JENNY CRAIG. I HAVE LOST 22 LBS IN 7 WKS STILL GOT ALOT TO LOSE AND IT REALLY DOES NOT HELP MY PAIN BUT IT HELPS MY MIND FEEL BETTER ABOUT MYSELF ANYWAYS I AM NOT GOING TO STOP TILL I AM THIS..TERESA   The one good thing that happen when I went back to work for those few days was that I lost 8 lbs. I felt better and now I'm trying to keep them off.
Went back to eating very small portions, don't use salt when cooking, fresh vegs or lightly steamed, nothing fried, whole grain pasta/ bread, lots of fresh fruits and limit the sweets.
At night when watching TV, I eat a piece of fruit or drink a glass of mixed berry juice. If it's hot out, I'll buy those frozen fruit bars to snack on or I may have a couple of teaspoons of ice cream with my fruit. Sometimes I take a cup of ice cold skin milk, add some fruit and blend baby blend. It makes for a nice smoothie. But before going to bed, I have my glass of skin milk to wash the pills down with as I've been drinking water all day. So with the help of the great all knowing diet god, from high up on top of oh no you don't eat that mountain, I'll keep the weight down.

MarisaI lost a lot of weight a few years back on Weight Watchers, but I have since gained it all back plus about 20 lbs extra. I have tried to go back on WW many times, but I cant seem to stick with it. I would like to try something else...Jenny Craig may be a good choice for me, or one more time on WW--I dont know.

I have a work colleague - a 40 yr old guy - who has lost half his body weight on Jenny Craig. It took 2 years, but he is a new man and swears the food was nice.  He also goes for a walk every day.

He is so vain about clothes now, it's funny!

My question is how tall are you pink flower 110 sounds good to me. Im around 140 now im 5'6 and am a size 5 still its all on how much muscle you have over fat. Im not looking at weight any more im looking at how toned my legs, butt, stomache, and arms are. My tummy has gotten much better lately so has my legs problem is that my butt is getting more muscle makes my butt look big. My shorts are a little tight in the butt and legs that always happens when I start to do any exercise.Oh you skinny people just need to quit whining!!!!

I'm 5'6' and am headed towards a size 18 and I'm fighting mad about it.  I'm hoping to be down to a size 14 by late fall.  I've looked into Jenny Craig and would love to do it but because we're traveling in the motorhome I just don't have the storage space for the food for both Stan and I.  I could never go on it without him becasue he needs to diet as badly as I do.One thing that has helped me, as I have been losing weight before I have to go on prednisone, is eating my main meal of the day in the afternoon instead of the evening.  It really does help me! I am shortie!  Just 5 feet in shoes

I started back at Weight Watchers again last week. I think the weekly weigh in keeps me mindful.

My girlfriend told me to get a pedometer and make sure you walk 10,000 steps every day...maybe I will try 20,000.!!!!

My son left for overnight camp yesterday. I told him I am going to lose 2 pounds a week while he is gone. I should be down 16 pounds b the time he gets home. It's my summer goal. It has GOT to be better for my joints and blood pressure and my self esteem.

GD Prednisone!!!!

I am going to get back to it, but I have to go grocery shopping first. I guess I will do my typical purging of the pantry first. (and I dont mean throwing it all away)

Okay, I am going grocery shopping Wed. and then I will try to be good.

I need motivation--I tried to get some of ya'll to lose with me back in April and you guys pooped out on me, I pooped out too!

Maybe we can try again.

I am going to have to do weight watchers,  I dont think I can afford Jenny Craig. Isnt it a couple hundred dollars up front?

WOW, 22 pounds in 7 weeks That's great! I've been on a low carb diet for 8 weeks and have lost 12 pounds so far. I had to fight for every pound lost. I guess I just don't lose weight that easily or maybe I have been in a stall. Anyway good for you.

What has helped me is to keep an online journal. I'm holding myself accountable to other low carbers and my family, of course.

I think you are right trtldy, the journaling is a huge help.

I guess that is why weight watchers helps so many people, It has the weekly weigh in, journaling and promote drinking water,

Now if only I could just do it all!!!

Terinski,  I eat my main meal in the middle of the day too and sometimes I can skip dinner and just have a couple juice cicles.  It is hot here.  I am mad at myself.  I was out in the heat the other day, I get hypoglycemic and my legs got wobbly and hands shakey.  The first place to eat I saw was Kentucky Fried Chicken.  Now I won't lie - I love fried chicken but for two months now every time I got on the scales I was the same or losing - after two days of eating that bucket of chicken - I gain 2 pounds !!!!!  Brett is coming back in a week

I hurt myself Monday, I was down in bed all day yesterday because there was a new water aerobics instructor with new moves.  Of course I had to try to keep up with her.  OUCH the next day.  Pain pills and movies.  I am going back today but try to be careful Roxy -- Wendy's has pretty decent salads.  They have a spinach chicken salad that has to be the best fast food salad I have ever eaten.  It comes with a lowfat/calorie dressing.  I love it. There are web sites where you can look up the calories and fat on different fast foods. You would be suprised at how many salads and chicken meals are actually way higher in calories than a burger. One of your best bets is Subway, as long as you dont get mayo, cheese, or oil on your sandwich.
