I am 28 years old and have beent taking Fosamax for several years.  I was on prednisone for 5 years but have been off of it for almost a year now.  I am still taking the Fosamax but have heard bad things about it now.  I have heard there are long term side effects for younger woman taking it.  Has anyone heard anything???  I have not talked to my doctor yet...  thanks!!!!I heard something about it on the news last week but I can't remember what I heard.  I'd check the web and look for the latest news article about Fosamax. Or go to the Fosamas site, sometimes the drug sites post the latest research and news even if it's not favorable for their med. I havent heard anything either. Is it just Fosamax or is it other similar drugs as well? I take Actonel. I am 32 and I have osteopenia. I sure would hate to hear that there was a problem with these meds. I just read a study on the Arthritis Foundation website that said that there may be an indication that these drugs can actually prevent OA. It is still being studied though.
I live in the Northeast and attorneys are running ads on TV asking if you have any damage from using Fosamax.  It seems that it erodes the jaw bone and I have heard that this was discovered in a dentist office when they did Xrays.  This was confirmed on one of the boards from a nurse that is employed by a dentist.

Luv...
So is that Fosamax only?
