I hate my neighbors | Arthritis Information

I am so depressed today.  My third cat is missing.  I have these really nasty neighbors where everything has to be just so in their yard.  Not a blade of grass out of place.  I have heard them chase my cats out.  I am so sad.  My favorite Izzy did not come this morning and she comes every morning.  She was just playing with the kitten.  I feel so angry.  I want to put pregnant rats in their backyard

I hope Izzy will come home soon, Roxy.  Maybe she's just out exploring, or got locked in someone's shed or garage and will come home soon.  Have you asked around your neighborhood?

I want to invent a collar for cats that has a night vision camera and GPS tracking on it, so we can see where they go and what they do when they leave the house.  Cats really do have two different personalities like it is portrayed in the Broadway show CATS - one they display for humans, and their REAL identity.

Has anyone else in your neighborhood lost their cats also?  Unfortunately it is a real problem in my neighborhood, due to coyotes.  We have lost several cats, and our neighbors have also.  I have one old boy left, who seems to be smart enough to avoid them, and has for more than 12 years.

Roxy, when I moved from the city to the mtns, I had five cats.  Four of them were used to being outside, and no matter what I did, they kept getting out. Slowly they kept disappearing, to coyotes.  I even heard my favorite one die and I couldn't do anything about it.  I still have one left, but she was always a house cat, never even wanted to go outside. I'm sure she remembers the abuse she had taken before I rescued her.  It's so hard to lose a pet, they are like our children, sometimes better, because of the unconditional love they show us.

I do hope Izzy is just out and about, and comes home soon!

Do you think your neighbors did something to your cat? Why do you hate your neighbors so much?

I know how much you love animals....but if you'll remember not too long ago I had some troubles with my neighbors cats. Both neighbors on both sides of my current house (MOVING SOON...YEAH!!) have cats. I HATE THEM!! Those cats come to my house and crap on my front porch. Once I went out to get the mail and almost stepped in it because it was on my front door mat!! THEN on three different occations the stupid cats crapped on my car. YES; on my car. Can you imagine going out and seeing a pile of cat sh*t on your car? Trust me it made me fruious!! My husband wanted to kill them when they crapped on the running board of his truck one day.

So; I can totally understand why homeowners in your area get aggrevated by your cats. If they are in fact over at their house causing trouble. Digging in their gardens, crapping on their porch....or whatever it might be. If you don't own a cat it's probable because you don't want a cat. People who don't have animals get quite aggrevated when other peoples animals cause them trouble when they have choosen not to take those troubles on themselves by actually owning the animals.

I grew up with cats. Outside cats. We had lots of them actually and I know as well as anyone that it's impossible to make an outside cat stay in their own yard. I can understand your frustration....but being a non cat owner and having neighbor cat trouble of my own I have to side with the neighbor on this one.

Unfortunately their basically house pets that are allowed to run "wild" and there's little anyone can do about it.

Sorry cat owners. I know I won't be popular with you due to my comments but this is a subject I feel strongly about due to my experience.

I gotta side with Lovie on this one, also.  I have a neighbor with a cat who pees in my front flower beds and porch urns.  The smell is totally attrocious, and I feel powerless to do anything about it.  when I approached my neighbor about the problem his only response was..."Well she's an old cat, and I certainly can't control what she does".  That's all!  I was stunned.

I don't hate animals.  I have a shih tzuh, and she does not leave our yard.....and would never be allowed to use a neighbor's yard as a litter box.

If someone did something to your cat...that is wrong, and I pray that didn't happen.  As angry as I am with my neighbor, and as much as I hate his cat, I would never harm it.  I hope your cat returns...and if it does, I would seriously consider de-clawing it, and making it an indoor pet.

Roxy, I'm so sorry your baby didn't come home this morning. Maybe she just wandered to far and is having a good time and will return soon. I hope. When I had outside cats they sometimes disappered for days and then returned like nothing was wrong. Eventually all of my outside/inside cats dissapeared for good.

I also had a neighbor that trapped all the cats in the neighborhood that went into his garden.

We had outdoor cats growing up too, and I've never had one mess on a car or on anything like steps or a deck. They would much prefer to go in the dirt.

I now keep my babies inside all the time. They love looking out the windows when they are open. I'm in the process of having hubby build an outdoor enclosure for them. That way they can have the best of both worlds and come in or out as they please.

I'd be lost with out my cat babies. They never argue, they are always happy to listen to what I have to say, and they think I'm always right. They never hog the remote and they love the same shows I watch. Their request are very few. I think I've become the crazy cat lady.

I have never eally had any probs with neighbors till I moved a year ago. The neighbors cats get under my deck and poop and urinate all the time and let me tell you, on the hot humid days it gets pretty sour out back. THen to make matters worse, if I leave the garage door open for any length of time they poop and pee an dclimb all over everything in the garage. in my garage.

They also have a teen son that walks the neighborhood and all ove rmy yard in the middle of the noght, I have caught hom doing this several times and when the other neighbors began asking me what was going on with the kid next door I just tell them...heck I dunno.

I hope your cat returns. Nobody should ever hurt a family animal. In my situation I just keep telling my neighbor that his cats get under my deck and his son keeps wandering the subdivisiion, he said that there si nothing he can do about it.......

I am thinking of putting up a fence.

I'm so sad for you Roxy.  I would be devastated if something happened to one of my cats (or my dogs when I had them).  They are my babies.  And I know how much you love your guys.  I will say a prayer that she comes home soon and was just out on an exciting adventure.

I agree that no matter how neighbors feel about your pets, there is nothing that justifies harming them.   That is just cruel.  If there are problems, they should speak to the owners.  Hopefully she will be there tomorrow morning!!

So sorry about your cats Roxy...hopefully they'll turn up soon.Hey hey.  Izzy decided to come swaggering in.  Now I am going to try to keep her in.  In the last month I have lost two cats.  I have lived in this neighborhood but never a problem until I got these new next door neighbors.  It is an old neighborhood and we have to park on the street.  It was never a problem then this couple moves in because their grown kids own a home down the street.  They had FIVE vehicles - one a trailer.  They continually parked them in my parking spot.  When I asked them nicely if they could at least park their trailor somewhere else because I was having to park my car down the street the A**hole said "it's a public street".  He comes outside everytime my gardeners are using blowers and starts yelling at them, when I water my flowers, if the water gets over the fence they come over and tell me to turn it down, I used to have this beautiful view out my back porch.  They built this monstrous garage now and that is all I can see.  They are rude, self centered and have been very vocal about not liking cats.  We have offered to clean up any messes my cats make in their yard.  I am certain he killed my two and a neighbor's cat.  They all came up missing in the same two weeks.  They are jerks and no nothing about being neighborly.  I have lived in this neighborhood over ten years.  We used to have block parties.  I so miss those days.  Thanks for your concern guys.  Izzy is my favorite cat and I cried all morning thinking she was gone.  It will be close to impossible to keep her in.

Ps I know that barn cats are needed to get rid of mice, but I feel cats in the city should be indoor cats, it is not fair to my neighbors to put up with them.

But the cat came back the very next day....the cat came back...we thought he was a goner.  But the cat came back...he just couldn't stay away...

Glad he's back Roxy

Boy oh boy Roxy, this whole thing is so stressful.  And it doesn't go away.  Bad neighbors are bad news.  Easy for me to say, but try to ignore them.  When we inherit new neighbors, it becomes another thing to enjoy, or in your case to put up with.  I can truly understand their irritation with your cats, and I am sure that they will do what they have to do to aleviate the problem and some people do not have a conscience.

Remember to be good to yourself Roxy.

Luv, GeGe

Glad your baby is home. Maybe you could get one of those tracking implants and talk to your Vet about what you can do to keep the cat contained.

As far as you neighbors go, if they do hurt your animals, it is a crime and should be reported. In many cases, animals have better protections under the law than women in domestic violence situations.

You can also see what the city ordinances are for your area and if there are any infractions on you neighbor's part. But unfortunately, those kinds of complaints will probably only make the situation worse. Sometimes the only thing you can do with people like that is kill them with absolute kindness. They don't know how to react to that. They  only know how to be jerks. When you are kind, it confuses them. And, sometimes, they even change.

I know how hard it is to contain some animals. I had a half wolf and he was impossible. I was living in a rural, mountain area and he just got more wild. I couldn't keep him contained at all. I had him in a fenced yard, with a chain and a fido buster. Smart dog got himself off the chain, stepped onto the plastic pipe of the fido buster and then dug under the fence. I came home to find him chasing the rancher's cattle and scaring the neighbors. If I left him inside, he ate doors, floors and window coverings. Finally, I was moving back to an apartment and I had to give him up. This dog was my very best protector and a wonderful companion. But he hated men and wasn't good with children (except mine). I couldn't find him another home and couldn't risk him hurting anyone. I had to take him to the animal shelter. It wasn't until I was there and my back against the wall as to what to do with him, that they told me they put part wolves to sleep. It killed me to do it.

I know how much you can love an animal and how hard it is to lose them. So, take every precaution that this one stays with you.

roxy, i'm glad izzy came home! see! i knew she would! she prob got involved in something or locked in a garage, like someone said.

i have 3 & they're all indoor cats. they're always gauking out the window & meowing at the door to get out (i let them in the hallway once), but i don't let them outside, or in the hallway anymore. i think they're fine inside. they're spoiled inside with a million toys, food, water, treats, cat things to climb & jump on, posts to scratch, even there own little spots to sleep. maybe keep them inside from now on since your new neighbors aren't very nice. and i've had bad neighbors most of my life, everywhere i go. i guess that's life!

here's some pic's of my kitties!!

Roxy, I am glad you got your cat back. You should keep them inside, but when you scoop the poop from the litter box, go ahead and toss it in your neighbors yard.  I once seriously considered tossing a poopy diaper in my neighbors chimney.

Sometimes revenge, or just the thought of it, can cheer you up.

Joey-your cats are pretty, and very satisfied looking....as if they just finished a surf and turf dinner for three.Yeah, they're really cute! Wish I wasn't allergic to cats. They are such great animals. [QUOTE=msjoey311]

I love the orange one.  He is my favorite.  I will have to upload some pics of my two dogs.  :)

I found this thread amusing, as New Zealand has one of the world's highest rates of cat ownership! (We have way more cats than dogs.) And they all live outdoors, so having neighbour's cats in your backyard is just a fact of life!

I cant wait, I am going to start shopping for another chihuahua baby in a few weeks. They are so sweet!

roxy I am so glad Izzy came home.

I only have a rottie and live out in the country but our neighbors have cats and I couldn't imagine hurting their pets or vice versa.  Some people are just plain mean and stupid.  When my son was young he loved beagles.  He lost 5 in a two year period

I agree with 'kill thy neighbor' WITH KINDNESS.  Tell them you are   "sorry you are such an angry and unhappy person.  I'll pray for you" then just walk away from them.  They get so

I am just glad Izzy is home.

One other thing, Roxy, is maybe your cats have found new homes? There's a little grey & white cat who sort of lives with us now. I saw her out in the woods in the winter and felt bad for her, so I put some food out. Sometimes, she sleeps under the chair covers on our patio (like a blanket!). I can't get near her, she's wild - but she was somebody's cat at one time - she's been spayed (or there would definitely be kittens). If I could catch her and tame her, I'd get her shots & get her taken care of = but for all I know, she belongs to somebody else and just spends most of her time here. Do your cats have collars? YEAH!!!   Izzy's home!!!    Here in Houston if your pet is microchiped and they get picked up by the animal shelter they will be scanned and same goes for if they are found and taken to a vet. If you have a wanderer it may be a good idea to get the rascal chipped, then you have a chance of getting them back. Thanks All.  I love my Izzy.  We all love her.  She is my favorite.  She is the one that rides in the car with us and jumps in the car every time we go anywhere.  My husband talks to our neighbors.  I can't.  I just have no respect for them.  They are so self centered.  My other cats are dead I know.  Mousie was Izzy's best friend, they grew up together and she was the shy one.  She rarely left the yard and stayed in the house mostly.  Doormat - hehehe - she was the scaredy cat.  Afraid of everything because she was raised in the mountains and had been chased too much.  She stayed under the house or in the house.  I know they all go next door.  They don't know the boundary line between our properties and the neighbors before loved them.

Isn't it against the law to kill your neighbors pets? I would call the Humane Society. Cats are harmless.

I heard once that if you take a shovel to an ant bed in your yard and dump it somewhere else (like a neighbors yard) the rest of the ant hill will move there too.

Our problem  ( as in other neighbors as well) we have had huge water bills. Come to find out no matter how much we turn our outside water off, the outside water is always on in the morning, mysteriously.

Solution:

turn off your water on the inside and only turn it on when you need to water, then turn it off again when done. I believe that the water does not turn itself ...so is that  trespassing?

Life can be so hard, why do people go out of their way to make life more miserable. I recently helped a neighbor and all I got was a kick in the teeth, a humiliating evening, and an argument, I mean a constant argument. Geesh if my neighbor hated me that much all he had to say was, I just want to use you because I have to take this car back. But no, I guess it was more fun to set me up.   no more favors...I AM DONE!

On the flip side, I do have wonderful neighbors otherwise. THere always has to be a rotten egg in the dozen I spose.

hhhmmmmm...does that mean I am a rotten egg?

Very rotten, but you have this really adorable side.

Speaking of cats, did you hear about the cat who had to go to court with his owner?  I believe the cat's name was Lewis and the neighbors wanted him destroyed because he was attacking people,  He would hid in the bushes, etc when someone came by he would run out and scratch or nip them, then take off.   The judge decided that the cat could live, but only if he was kept as an indoor cat, if he ever gets out the cat will be destroyed and the owner goes to jail.  The owner is on 2yrs probation, which will wiped off her record if there is no problems with the cat during this time.  This kitty is quite the stinker. hehehe

meme

I guess Lewis is quite the neighborhood terror, but whenever the news camera's were here filming him inside his home he was  sweet and adorable.  Smart cat!

I love it!

And yes, I do have an evil mind...but it is balanced with a gentle soul...(most of the time anyways!)
