what are some of your experiences with prednisone? today i was given a prescription for 2 weeks of it, to see how i do on it. i don't want to be on a steroid for a long time, because it's a steroid. and i hear it's not too good for those with a history of lung problems. but if i hear a lot of good things, i may consider it.

thanks!

Sometimes, you just have to take it. The inflammation of RA is destructive on a permanent basis. Always keep it to a minimum, which most doctors will want to do anyway.

I've been on high doses a long time and yes, it causes me problems. But I can't hardly function without it.

If you are just starting it, it can really help until they get some of the other medications going for you. Just be honest with your doctor that you only want it just long enough to get you over your flare.

Pred can cause a vareity of symptoms when you first start it: nausea,
mood swings, nervousness, etc. I had only the nausea and it was very slight.
I am diabetic and really weighed the benefit of pred since it makes blood
sugar go up, but it was WORTH IT!!! Pain and swelling were greatly reduced
within a day of taking it.
