Hi, I have just found this board and was wondering if anyone could shed some light. Have been diagnosed with PMR now for 14 months, 48 years old, and am down to 5mgs Prednislone but have started to notice, just within the past couple of weeks, that my hands are sore and stiff in the mornings. Never had this before, just pain everywhere else in the body!! Anyone else had this. Am just concerned that it might mean the start of RA!!!
It's good to know that there are others going through the same things. One doctor lately more or less told me that my PMR was just me 'in a rut'!!

I have reactive arthritis, rather than RA, but I get stiff/sore hands sometimes during a flare. The various kinds of inflammatory arthritis seem to share many symptoms in common - hopefully your rheumatologist will be able to answer your question for you.
That unhelpful comment from your doctor must have upset you: As if we do anything to bring these diseases upon ourselves!! I got upset last week, when a pharmacist (not my usual, who knows me) filling my prescription for codeine, gave me a big lecture about the evils of taking painkillers - as if he would know what it's like to cope with chronic pain! It's no wonder so many of us get depressed

Am putting off going to doctor because after the last consultation I really was beginning to think that perhaps I am imagining the pain.
But will check out reactive arthritis. Something to go on.
how any dr. could say that pmr is just you in a rut.............is the biggest idiot in the world....................i was diagnosed 5 months ago after spending 3 years in so much pain and fatigue i thought i was dying.this is a debilitaing disease......my activities have diminished 80 percent...................prednizone is helping but i still do not feel well.........................i feel sorry for anyone who comes down with this and good luck to all of you.........
