i'm so sick of my fingers and hands aching. everything else hurts, too, but my hands are the worst. that's all, just tired of it.

I love your avatar. I wish I could do that. I really miss just getting up and dancing to some good music.

What all do you do to make your hands better? I've used sports creme during the day. And, I've used the parafin baths morning and night every day for a very long time and that really helped. Also, when I'm typing on the computer, I use compression gloves. You can get these at your local drugstore. They make a big difference.

My hands used to be so bad that I couldn't hardly use them. But I think since they've got me on better meds, that helps a lot. You should let  your doctor know that you are still having a lot of inflammation. It's really important in your hands because they are so vulnerable to damage.

Most sites suggest that they do xrays of your hands right off the bat. So, it might be worth it to discuss that possibility with your doctor. I know some with RA have ended up with damage that's irreversible. So, it might seem like a small thing, but those are your hands.

My hands never don't hurt, msjoey. It's been a year, now, since they first started hurting, and long before I knew I had RA. Deanna's suggestion of compression gloves is a good one. I finally took her up on it, and it does help. Pretty much, if you still have pain in your hands, your RA isn't being controlled.

I start a new med. this week. That's the only answer. External things that make you feel better. Internal things that actually stop the progression.
Ms Joey,  I do feel lucky, my hands only flare every few months.  My constant pain is in my hips but I know how we need our hands.  I hope they are feeling better soon.  Yours too Fiona.

do any of you wake up due to pain & terrible stiffness in your hands? what do you do to help relieve it?

thanks all

I had severe pain in my hands and found out it was related to my neck. I havent done anything different except making sure my head and neck are better aligned  when I sleep. That ment getting rid of some of the pillows under my head. The chiropractor suggested that and I was resistant to the idea at first but now I really think it made an big difference.
