Has anyone ever heard of "vaccine induced degenerative autoimmune disease Arthritis"  ?          ;

Thanks

Hi Marcel,

My arthritis is due to an allergic reaction to the measle, mumps, and rubella vaccination which I got at year and a half. I was sick with fevers and inflammation of the joints for another year and half before being diagnosed with JRA. Though this reaction was not known until I was in my teens. For years my JRA was chalked up to RA running in the family. So it's very likely had I not had a reaction to the vaccination it would have occurred at some point in my life.

Marcel,

I have spoken to someone on this website before that had gotten RA after a hepatitis vaccine. I know myself when I worked in a medical clinic and we were required to get the hepatitis vaccine--(I had JRA already) but when I got the first shot I went into such a flare and had quite a reaction to the vaccine that my doc told me that I could not get the next two shots in the series.
Soon after that I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Makes me wonder??? Maybe??

So it certainly is possible.

Marcy

This RA thing is new to me and I'm just trying to sort through fact and fiction.

I'm glad I found this site.  The people seem very nice...I had 3 successive exosures to "Fifth Disease" 2 years in a row.  Initally it was thought that I had a temporay illness presenting itself as RA, howevre my Dr felt the treatment was same the difference would be how long it lasted.  He felt that a month or so and we would know for sure.  Over a year later I still have the same symptoms.  My dr told me about 11 and 1/2 months ago that he thought I had severe RA and that he hoped he would be proven wrong.  He wasn't.
