I have some redness on my tongue that burns when I eat certain foods. I do have a terrible cold so it could be from that, but I also wonder if it is from any of the drugs I'm taking:
3mg prednisone, salsalate, plaquinel, extra strength tylenol
Any ideas?
I take prednisone 2mg and plaquenil and haven't had a problem with my tongue.
The extra strength tylenol though - that doesn't act as an antiinflammatory for the RA if that is what you have. Are you taking that for another pain reason?
Yes, my doctor told me to take 2 extra stregth tylenol every 8 hours for pain or as needed.
Thank you for responsing. I really think it is from my very bad cold, but you never know with these meds. Also, my RA Doc, asks me about mouth sores every time I visit. How long have you been on the pred?
Don't know about the drugs you are on but Mtx gave me horrid mouth and tongue sores...doc put me on folic acid and that cleared them all up...good luck i know they are no fun

Poof, if you just would stop licking all of that sand paper, your tongue would not be so sore!!!
Now wait a minute...they call that strawberry tongue...hhmmm. Let me look it up and see what I can find. Maybe we wont have to use the bad answer after all. You certainly don't want an infection starting and if it is at all possible, you need to be seen immediately. You can have almost no symptoms from infections once on these meds. Fortunately, in most cases, you can just go into a regular doctor, tell them about your RA and meds and they can prescribe something right away.
