New Diagnosis, oh no | Arthritis Information

Hi everyone - I never used a forum so bear with me - i was looking up info for RA and found this site - just got a call from dr. that my ra factor? is 398 which he said is very high - i don't know what it should be - explains the constant pain, aches etc.  anyone interested in giving me the lowdown, like i said i really don't know too much except that i am overwhelmed!Hi Dunie, all I can tell you is my RF was 496 and I was in agony, your RF alone is not enough to confirm the diagnosis, but if you have the symptoms such as pain, swelling, morning stiffness etc, they usually take Xrays and refer you to a rheumatologist.  You need to see a Rheumy asap as the sooner they treat you the better the outcome further down the track.  Best of luck and this forum is great for help and advice and for knowing someone cares and is willing to listen.  Regards Janie.

thanks for the quick reply - i saw a Rheumy (doc i presume!) a few years ago when my blood work was high and my hands were achey - went to see a specialist and he did xrays etc, i just had surgery on my foot and the surgeon said it was worse than what he thought - so i will keep reading and posting - thanks

Dunie,  Talk some time to go over past posts.  This board is full of good info.  It sure sounds like ra.  This is a great place for knowledge AND support.  WELCOME
