Tell me what you know about it. How does it differ from having sore muscles from RA....or are my sore weak muscles not from the RA? I have this all of the time, even when my joints are behaving.
For probably six years now I have been going to the doc, pre-ra and after - with horrible muscle aches and I am too weak to raise my arms over my head and get very weak all over. More often than not I can't raise my hands over my head. Polymiositis is the immune system attacking the muscles. A lot of my flares are all muscle - in fact - we did not think it was ra as there was very little joint involvement. Then I tested positive for that test CRP I think it is called and the rd said that means for sure it is RA. Also the joints decided to join in. The thing is, I have always been very strong, surprisingly strong, but when I get these attacks, I am weak as a kitten. It is all muscles, they hurt. I feel like I have a really bad flu with muscle pain. I have been tested for everything - very frustrating. My doc thinks it is more than RA. I go to the rd this month, see what he says. So who knows. The treatment is about the same. One med. that is specifically for polymiositis.
That's the story
