Can I take my shot if I am taking antibiotics for infection of my tooth? Infection is most the way gone and I did not take my shot last week but wondering if I should take it with my antibiotics?
I've had that problem myself recently. Three weeks ago my tooth was killing me. I mean every 4 hours advil and some tramadol as well at night. It was obvious there was a problem and I didn't want to make it any worse if it was an infection so I skipped my HUmira and MTX just in case. On Tuesday I went to the dentist and had a root canel. He gave me 7 days worth of antibiotics at that time.
I figured I'd be fine on Saturday night to just continue my dosage but everyone here and the other sites I visit advised against it. In fact Paul's doctor (He had the EXACT same thing as us) told him to not take his meds until he was completely finished with his anitbiotic.
My RD doesn't even know any of my tooth problem....didn't think it concerned him BUT I know when I've had any other kind of infection and been an antibiotic he as well as my GP always tell me to finish my medication first.
Hope this helps a some. It's not worth making things worse....wait it out. You can start your meds off schedule if your real anxious.
Hi! Thought I'd give everybody an update. I was on Penicillen for 10 days which ended yesterday. I have been off my Ra meds for a week now. I am going to start taking them on Sunday. I have not had any Ra pain come back as of yet. I just hope my tooth infection does not come back. Anyway good luck!!!Glad to hear things went well Paul.
I restarted my meds a day early. I have had a few problems....but nothing as bad as the tooth ache two weeks ago.
I mainly took mine tonight instead of tomorrow because I expect some fatigue considering I haven't had my MTX in three weeks now....I'll be fine by Monday.
