I have been thinking about doing this for years but never got around to it. I was diagnosed with AS when I was 29 HLA-B27+, after I had my one and only child. I am now 42. I had symptoms from the time I was in early teens and had been desperately seeking answers since I was 19. Since my symptoms are all over the place, my doc says that I may have seronegative spondl. The bottomline is that doesn't even matter. I have tried the long list of meds but because I have hypersensitivity that's been a struggle. Nodules spreading & pain unbearable quite often. Lost my eye to uveitis & can hardly walk at times. I work hard at keeping a positive attitude and trying to be an inspiration others. It's been a long hard road-sometimes very lonely. My last option is Humira. I am fearful that I will have adverse reactions because of my med past. Does anyone have any input about this drug? Peace & God Bless to all

Hey Tammy.

Welcome to AI.

I've been on Humira for about 20 months now. I love it. I also take Methotrexate. It's made a really big difference for me with RA. I can understand your fear due to your history. I've been very lucky to respond really well to the meds over the years.

Again; Welcome to AI. I'll be happy to answer any Humira questions I can.....just let me know.

Thank you sooooo much Lovie!!!

20 mos. is a good amount of time and I appreciate the positive input aside from the happy people running thru the fields on the TV ads! I can't take methotrexate but am on Arava right now, has helped with inflamation but not progression-if that makes any sence.

Thanks again!

Sure that makes since. It's the most important goal to at the very least Slow the progression.

Arava is very simular to MTX from what I understand. Many that can't take MTX are switched to it with positive results.

I know the injection aspect of it all is scary. I remember that very well; but it's been well worth it in my case.

Hope to see more of you here at AI.

Hi Tammy, Welcome!

I'm not on Humira; I'm on MTX & Arava, but I know what a struggle it is to reach any kind of stabilization. I'm sorry you've had such a difficult time of it - I hope the Humira works for you. There are a few other people who take it who can probably tell you more.
