Sept. 14 | Arthritis Information

that's the date for my total knee replacement and it's at the hospital where I work.
After I had post about my insurance troubles, I was so down as for the past year, I've been having trouble with another insurance company. I just couldn't handle having more problems. So the next day, I got on the phone and called the surgeon's office. I broke down into tears as I talked to the insurance person. By the time I was hanging up, I had her in tears and she promise me that she would talk to the insurance company. It took a week but yesterday, I got the approval and today they called with the date.
Thanks to all for your support and info. It was so uplifting to me and it broke up my down feelings. Will keep everybody posted on how I'm doing.

Marisa Marisa Sue38940.8822222222YIPEE!!!  I am so glad for you Marisa.  I am sure that is a comfort for you.

Seems weird congratulating someone on a surgery date but I,m sure happy for you Marisa.
BarbCongrats, Marisa.  I know it will make your life better to get this taken care of.

Geez, is there anything else you need taken care of while you're under?  Since you are getting their cooperation, maybe you could give them a list of things to tweak, like we do when we get our cars serviced!  Wouldn't that be great?

That's great Marissa.  What is the exact date?  DOH - this is an edit - just saw the subject

I'm so thrilled for you getting what you really need. I know this is going to make a big difference in your life.

Way to go!

That's just awesome Sweetie. I hate you have to have the surgery to begin with....but this should be a big comfort to you.

Congratulations.

Marisa thats good news, hope everything goes well,it will you will be dancing the jiggerbug in no time,GOOD LUCK

spend your time between now and Sept 14 doing lots of strength exercises with your legs.  It will make a HUGE difference after surgery.

Don't overdo it of course, but do work extra hard.

It makes the post op physio so much easier and your recovery so much faster.

Good luck and good wishes

I'm counting the days. The doctor has order a shower chair for me and of course, the insurance co. refuse to pay. I went out a got one. I've been using it and at first it seem funny to sit. I use a plastic graduate to pore the running water over me. I have a ball in there as it gives me a good excuse to play. It lets me be a kid!
I got my tray table for my walker. It has 2 cup holder and a nice big spot for my plate. I've done some practice runs but find it hard getting up from a low chair. Haven't try to go down the stairs yet.
I've been doing several leg exercises as I use my good leg to balance on when I'm flexing my bad knee. Can't balance for too long on the bad knee as it gives out.
Will keep posting updates on my condition until surgery. After that, I don't know if I'm coming home. I may have to go into a rehab unit but if I can get on line, I'll check in with all of you.
