Its been a while since I had blood work done.  I got my results from the dr today.  My Ra factor is 291.3  the normal range is 0.0 -13.9     and my c reactive protein 9.9 the normal range is 0.0 - 4.9  !! I have been feeling bad but I didn't think it would be that far out of the normal.  Has anyone else had an ra factor that high and if so how long did it stay that high?  I just a little worried about it.  Any info would be great.    My last RA factor was 215.6  My C reactive protein has always been normal, but my anti-CCP was 69 (which is way high).  My ANA is always at least 640 (normal is <80).  Go fiqure?  I was just formally dx in April because of the anti-CCP.That rheumatoid factor seems really high to me. Mine is around 60. I'm currently on prednisone, plaquanil, Methetrexate, and enbrel. I can immagine what you're on.

hi!  my rf factor is 349.  cpr is normal.. what the heck is the rest of those numbers  (anti-crp?)

taking 20mg mtx, 200mg celebrex, 2mg folic acid.

Hey,

I joined this forum today and wuld like to introduce myself. I am34 from Edinburgh and am a student nurse. I have had blood back over the weekend and my RF is 52. My ANA is 640 speckled. My doctor cant tell me much but says it could be RA, Mixed Connective Tissue Dsorder, Sjorgens' Syndrone or Lupus. Im besides myself i have a daughter of 8 and my future was looking so bright i graduate in 6 months. Im determined to keep a brave face but im so worried in side. Greatful for any advice.

Student- I know, it's scary as hell.  My ANA pattern is also speckled.  I've had crazy lab results for at least 8 years with minimal symptoms until now. I'm a RN, too.  All you can do is wait and see.  Just be grateful that you didn't wake up one day unable to move.  Often a slow start makes for slow progression.

Starmom- anti-CCP is a new test that is specific for RA.  Normal values are below 9. >60 is strongly positive for RA.  50-59 is positive, 40-49 is suspicious, etc.

Linda K. the only thing I'm on right now is Motrin and a prednisone pak.  I have to see Rheumy tomorrow.

emmasa01 - What type of nursing do you do? I am hoping thatall of this doesnt affect my new caree ive always wanted to be a nurse since i can remember. Its good to know that they have a specific tes for RA. I must be honest though, im hoping its a false positive. My main fear is that its MCTD ive been reading about that and it not such a good prognosis. My RF was 434.  I am a nurse too, though not practicing now.  6 months to go...GOOD FOR YOU!!!!  That's great.

I have had great results with the DMARDS.  What is the next plan for you?  Are you seeing a Rheumy?

Take care,
Jeanne
I work in Recovery.  I used to do icu/ccu, I don't think I could do that now, though.  Crunchy is an ER nurse and I think she works 12 hour shifts.Hi Cheermom, I was one of those who woke up unable to move, RF 469, Don't think I have ever had an anti ccp done, I still have active RA after 6 years but with the pred it is much more manageable, don't worry, if they get to it early you can have great results.  There are so many treatments now but be patient, its a matter of finding which one works for you and sometimes it takes combinations.  Make sure you keep visiting us as this forum is a great support network as you can see, and you will learn an awful lot from the postings here.  Best of luck with your nursing career, kind regards and lots of friendly hugs to keep u going, Janie. I am like you Janiefx...I woke up with a RA factor of 453.  My anti ccp is through the roof also.  I was just diagnosed in May and immediately put on MTX and prednisone to get me functional.  I have been on the mtx for about 12 weeks now and I have been weaning off the prednisone.
Since I started cutting back on prednisone I notice more stiffness so I am guessing that the MTX is not enough on its own.  I see my rheumy tomorrow and we will discuss adding enbrel or humira.
Good luck to you.
Jen

Diagnosed in January   2006

RhF 312     CRP 20.4    Anti-ccp 63

I just got my inflammatory markers checked again last month...no change after 7 months of mtx and 3 months of Enbrel.

Discouraged and sore,

Nancy

Hi cheermom,

Yes, My results were that high but only one time long ago. I don't really understand all of it because when I have been feeling so bad I just wanted to die my results were normal!?! For me, the results of those tests do not correlate with my pain or progression!

Take Care-Peace, Tam

They no longer correlate for me either. My test results say I'm normal.

I am a sero-neg but sed rate used to always be high when I felt rotten.

The blood tests no longer mean much to my RA status. I'm hoping my liver never looks normal on the blood tests when something is going wrong...See it is possible to worry over normal blood work too!
