Hi,My name is Marina. I was recently diagnosed with AS. I'm starting ENBREL. If someone is using it and noticed some side affect, could you please share your observations with me. I worry about all I have read for this drug. Thank you,

BarbHi

I have had AS for over 40 years. I started taking Enbrel 3 weeks ago, twice weekly. Gave myself my 7th injection this morning. Only had problem with 1 injection last Tuesday which bled slightly and bruised. I have noticed that the day after the injection I feel slightly nauseous and my appetite is poor.

Yesterday morning I dug over some of my vegetable plot. The soil is clay and very heavy and there were lots of deep rooted weeds, docks etc. Before Enbrel I would have had to do it in short bursts probably over 2 days. I did it in 1 go and had very little pain in the afternoon and today. Before, I would have been in agony and have difficulty moving so I am willing to put up with the nausea for the relief it has given me.
I have  had AS for 23 yrs now,I was on Enbrel back when it first came out.I developed chronic sinis infections while using Enbrel so my doc took me off it,other then that it did what it was suppose to do made me feel great. I'm on Remicade now every 10 weeks  for the past 7 yrs, for me its much better then Enbrel.I have used Enbrel for several years with no side effects.  I have trouble with alot of other meds, but this, no problems. Good Luck!I guess it just depends on one's system.  I did well on Remicade for nearly a year, but began developing antibodies to it (found out later by my doctor).  Anyway, when the Remicade seemed to be working less, the doctor put me on a larger dose -- about 10 minutes into the infusion, I had a drug reaction with flushing and shortness of breath.

Luckily, the nursing staff was prepared for such emergencies and they stopped the drip and injected me with (hmmm, I forget the drug), and I was fine.

Anyway, I was put on Embrel 50m, self-injecting once a week and it has been working great for over six months now.

Hi marina,,sneha here,,,,Nice posting in this thread ......Keep it up,,,,,,,    I've been using Methotrexate for Psoriatic Arthritis for over 17 years. It's recently begun to fail me and it's likely I'll be going on Enbrel.

Which of the anti-TNF's is best for AS?
