Hi all,
I am new to this board and am hoping to get some "real life" answers
and information. I am 31 years old and recently diagnosed with OA after a
fall down the stairs. Right now all they now is it is in my right
hand. I had debrisment surgery almost 2 weeks ago. Now the Dr is
talking about the anchovy surgery for my right thumb. I am very concerned
that this is a very drastic step especially for my age. When I mentioned
it to the physical therapist she said I was very young for this and that is
would take me a year to feel better. She also said there would be things,
like using a pastry bag, which I wouldn't be able to do anymore. Has
anyone gone through this or have any advice to give? My Dr has been
treating me very in a conservative manner since May of this year, so part of me
thinks this is the only way to go. But then the other part of me has 2 young
kids age 4 and 2 and the thought of a long recovery scares me. Any advice
would be appreciated.
