Hand Problem | Arthritis Information

I'm having a lot of trouble with a joint in my left hand.  My RA Dr. sent me to see a Hand Surgeon who gave me a seroid shot in the joint and had a brace made.  I have had the brace on for three weeks and now he wants me to wear for six more weeks.  He's hoping this will help the joint repair itself.  My question is "Has anyone had a joint repair by wearing a brace"?

Rest will help tendonitis and sometimes carpel tunnel.

Hi Rocxy, I had hand and wrist problems for 3 years, have had it operated on since and it is almost perfect now, but I did wear occupational therapy supplied braces for 2 years, I know they do help stop deformity if worn at night especially, but as for fixing the hand problem, no, it used to help with the swelling a bit and helped me cope with shopping and carrying etc, but it didn't fix it sorry!  Regards Jane.

I wear thumb splints to help the hands to lower the swelling, etc.  The dr may want to see first if swelling will go down and do another series of xrays after the swelling goes down this way he tell exactly how much damage there is.  If it bothers you to wear both braces during the day then wear one at a time, like 1 day the left one, next day the right one.   or if it is too hard to work with them on wear them at night at night to bed.  meme

Have a Blessed Weekend!!!!
