I have now got minor pain every now and then esp with overuse. Is that what they call remission ?

Although with all my surgeries on the bowel etc I don't feel much anymore!

Thankyou xox

There is actually a calculator like device that the RD can use to calculate (based on your answers to some questions) how close you are to remission. You should ask you doc about it. Clinical remission doesnt begin at no pain ever....so you may be there already!

That is interesting, thankyou!

I would hate to go along thinking its ok, when major joint damage is occurring. One flare has disfugured my hands. I hate to see what the next major one will do....

yea, it is scarey that some people have destruction even when they feel their symptoms are minimal.Tam, that's why, even in remission, you shouldn't go off your meds without a lot of thought and supervision. You can be feeling pretty darned good and still doing permanent damage to your joints. I'm glad that you have minimal pain, especially since you have other, serious problems. I am in remission right now, but I continue going to the rd every month, and am still on nsaids for pain.  I am off arava and enbrel for now, but I have to stay under close supervision of the rd, next month I will go for another full set of xrays to see how the joints are doing and if there is any more degeneration of the joints.  Remission can go on for a short or a long while.  meme
