What does everyone do for this swelling & pain, I think my Enbrel needs to be in 2 shots a week, i have been doing it 50mgs. every Sat. & feeling good, but today I am in agony, swelled all over. it is hard to get people to understand how ya feel when you look ok on the out side, but for the swelling, they said it is the weather, here in Indiana, it is VERY HUMID.....& I am taking care of  my Dad, & helping with my Aunt....sorry for the whinning....

If you think it is temporary and that without the humidity, you're illness seems under pretty good control, then you can probably just wait it out, taking more pain medicine or using heat and cold to ease your suffering. Getting weightless in water can be comforting, such as a swimming pool.

If it seems that it is more of a flare and just beyond your tolerance, call the doctor's office. My rheumy's office staff tells me that they get flooded with patients when the weather is changing. They could do anything from having you come in, adding to your pain meds to adding a short run of prednisone. It really varies on the patient.

For me, I can feel the rain coming in and all this pressure builds up. As soon as it rains, it feels like a vise has been taken off my entire body. We don't have a lot of humidity here, not like Indiana where it practically drips off your body. But I do know I swell and am in more pain when the monsoons come.

Oh, and it's not whinning to state a problem and search for answers. That's called survival. And, it's being intelligent.

Yes, the Enbrel is recommended at two injections a week.  It can be very hard to get the swelling under control.  I finally gavein and started steroids a few months ago and thats really the only thing that has taken the swelling down.

I switched from enbrel to humira as well. I've only done two shots of humira but it does seem to be working better already!

I hope you feel better soon!  I know how frustrating it is when people kept saying but you don't LOOK sick!!!

Are on prednisone?  That fixed my swelling and pain.
