Damn Ankles! | Arthritis Information

I saw my rheumatologist on Tuesday and left with a huge smile on
my face because after five weeks on the MTX my blood tests showed
a big improvement, and yep, I'm feeling better, although this is also
attributed to me taking 100mg of diclofenac each day as well as the
prednisone. But then two days ago, my ankles start aching. And now
they hurt if I spend to much time on my feet. When I climb into bed
each night my ankles and feet are throbbing as if I've just run a
marathon! This is so unfair... I thought I was on path to
improvement, not the path to "let's stick your ankles in a vice and
squeeze the crap out of them" path.

Sorry, I really need to vent at this moment!

At least I can say I swam 100m in the pool this week in one go! I
haven't been able to do that since before my diagnosis. I was so
proud of myself... seems ridiculous doesn't it?
Isn't swimming amazing. I feel like my body is pre-ra in the water. I can't
wait to get back to the pool.

I am sorry about your ankles. It is tough to be on our feet - all that gravity.
I get huge hip and knee pain even with meds working if I walk much. I think
it is from damage. Don't push through that pain if you can help it- I learn
the hard way - it is not worth it. I hope you continue to get better. I wonder
if braces on your ankles would help?

Hi Shannon

It isn't fair is it? Maybe though, your joints are having 'one last breakout' before leaving you in peace...

Have a good day,

I manage to hurt my joints even in the pool! I tend to over do because it feels so good to be ‘free’ and actually be able to move like I used too. I usually feel it in my ankles – I had to learn to keep my feet tensed when I kick because leaving them floppy causes my ankles to hurt.

It is always something!
