i think he has to seek medical advice for something to loosening the stiff joints. had a friend who suffered badly from stiff hand and finger jointsthat she could not even comb her own hair. it was that bad. i would not advise OTC drugs. He can try some supplements, thats what I take, but it's not a quick fix, it will/can take months before you see improvement. I'm sure he knows he can try things like Aleve, and Ibu, etc etc. As for supplements, have him look for a mix of Glucosamine and Chondritin. There are a lot of different supplements, just read the bottles!

Hey crazy. Was curious, how old is your boyfriend? Either way, if pain is bothering him, then he really needs to see a doctor and get on some real medication. I know that is easier said than done with no health insurance. He might want to look into your local public aid office or health department and see if there is any kind of dissability assistance he can get. Also, as far as the stiffness goes, he needs to keep his hands moving no matter how much it hurts, especially in the morning. He should maybe see a physical therapist and get into a regular exercise routine. Trust me on this one. I know from experience. If he doesn't exercise his affected joints on a regular basis, they will stiffen up even worse and possibly get to where he can't move them at all. However, he doesn't want to "over do it" either. That's why I would recomend seeing a phyisical therapist who can give him an idea of what kind and how much exercising he should do.

Good luck, hope we have answered some of your questions,

Jesse
