how long you've all had RA for and has anyone ever went into remission?

I've had it for 16 months, never been in remission.
I've had it for past 2 1/2 years.  I don't know about remission in this disease...  only been told just recently that the RA is under control and the drugs are doing what they are suppose to.  When I've tried to taper down on the prednisone, the pain and swelling come back fast and furiously... so, if I am controlling it, I'm happy with that.  The remicade infusions seem to be working on not advancing this to a much worse stage than I am presently at.

I've only had it for about 1.5  years.  Don't know about remission.  People talk about it, but don't remember anyone on this board saying they were in remission.  I think it's few and far between....(am I right or wrong here)?  Just getting it under control I think is our main concern.  And, thankfully, many of are able to do that, at least me.

I've had it for more than 12 years now. I've been in what can be called a medically induced remission. I tried going off my meds during that time despite my doctors objections.....but it didn't last long.

I've since gone through many spells where symptoms were dramatically reduced thanks to medication; but I've come to the conclusion that I'll have to be on the medication for the rest of my life.

Hopefully Meme will see this thread. She's had both RA & PA for many years and is now enjoying what could be considered remission and is on minumal meds at the time.
