My Review of 4RATalk | Arthritis Information

Pros: A nice group of people if you exclude the moderators and the members who are in the moderators clique.

Cons:

No true heart-felt replies.
They have a clique - consisting of the ones in charge and the ones they decided to let into their clique.

The clique likes to gossip about anyone & everyone - no one is safe from their gossip.

The clique are a bunch of 2-faced hypocrites that need to get a life.

The clique will alienate you to the best of their ability.

The clique think they are superior, when the members of the board should be the superior ones.

The clique is made up of a bunch of high school-ish bitties!

Conclusion:

4RATalk is not a very good site if you want true, heartfelt support to help you deal with the everyday problems RA throws at you. They try too hard to make the atmosphere of the site like the old site RA Friends. They will never achieve the greatness of RA Friends, because they do not know how to give the members what they want, which is TRUE heartfelt help & support and some humor sprinkled on top!

Nope, no trouble meant... was just warning others who do not need anymore un-needed stress. I know my review might not have helped that that much, but hey at least I warned them.

And No, Joey2, I am not moderator on RAF the site is gone because other moderators decided they wanted to be in power and created another site and the site owner did not want "turf wars" with them so we decided to shut it down. Of course it was played off because the site was "unfixable", in truth the site was fixed and was ready to be put back online the same day the other site launched. And Yes, I did read PM's ones that had my name in them because I wanted my PM's that had peoples email addresses, and an on going converstaion, from the site that was down, and in order to find my PM's I had to search for my name, which seemed to come up a lot when Lesle was PMing folks.

I could have been rude and mean and flammed all of them and told things I know, but I did not. I was just giving warning. I visit this board and have since I was ran off the other board. I do not post much, but why deny someone something they truly need, which was what I use to get from the members of this board, True heartfelt help & support. I mean what if someone who was replying to your posts and saying nice things in the replies and then to turn around and find out that that person was talking bad about you behind your back, while all along they seemed genuine in their replies and PMs? It would make me feel like I had been betrayed and used. I would make be feel paranoid that "what if the others did not mean there replies?" I would wonder who all was really there for me when I needed them most. I mean there are a lot of people, including me, that depend, value, and respect what is told to them in a reply to their post. For some it is their only link to the outside world, for others it is there way of getting things off their chest, and then there are some just looking for information.

Yeah, I know I am pathetic because I am one of the few that depend on message boards as my link to the outside world and view the people I meet and talk to on the internet as my real friends, as I do not have any in real life, but that is only because I do not want the hassel that comes with having real life friends, which is trying to explain to them why I cannot do certain things, go places, or even why I hurt, I have a hard enough time explaining that to people who love and care for me no matter if I am gimpy.

joonie, i know rafriends is gone and you were an administrator. good for you for admitting you read pm's.  imo that is a very tacky and low thing to do. i am glad that rafriends is not back, i would not trust anyone like you to be an administrator knowing what you said and your reasons for doing it.

from what i understand talking to others, you asked for your account to be deleted from 4ratalk because you did not play well with others. there were people there that you did not like and you couldnt get along with them. you also asked the people there to ban you . my question is, if you wanted to be banned why do you care or know so much about what goes on there?  yes, pathetic is a good word.

dude, my equipment says i'm no lesle. lesle is a female, i however am not! way off base rando.

Is this sort of thing really a problem? Here's the way my brain works:

1. This and others like it including spam, trolls  etc are only someone's opinion or hobby horse.

2. They are sometimes good for a laugh, even take our minds off the pain for a while.

3. The internet is a public place.

4. It happens on a lot of forums, we'd be very lucky to escape it here.

5. Does it really spoil our day? We know why we come here and always get the help and support we need.

Mind you, this is only my opinion, a number of others have written some very pertinent and sensible comments.

Yep Roxy, that is what RAF was all about remember? I mean we did have some rules to cover our butts and all, but in the end the members were incharge. We cared for our members and their well being.

I miss the good ol' days when we all got along and was there for each other.

I think that the contraversy is just part of the flavor here at AI... Every board has something different to offer. Some are small and quiet, others are busy. There are some that are on the more serious side and others that are laid back and offer a little bit of entertainment as well as RA support.

I depend on these places for support and friendship, so many non-RA friends tend to disppear when you are out of commission from RA. I hope that others here will look at all of the boards and decide for themselves where they feel comfortable, rather than following someone elses opinion.

Of course I am going to toot my own horn a bit about RAsushi....but we offer links to the other RA boards so that members can find there own place too. Even if they dont stay at sushi..I am glad to help others find the match that they need. It is all about support guys!!

The internet is the same as real life. Not every one is going to get along. You're always going to have those folks that flat out refuse to turn the other cheek and feel it nessesary to "Get back" at those they feel have wronged them.
