I'm about to have some tests run on my heart (a holter monitor revealed that I have about 10,000 irregular beats a day.

My son (whom I was pregnant with when I first started having RA symptoms) is being tested for some sort of muscular problem... possibly MD or something (we hope) less severe.

Has anyone seen/read of connections?

I am sorry to hear about your heart.

I hope your son's tests come out not to be MD.

I remember you from here before we "moved" to RAF, I wondered what happened to you.

I'm having irregular beats too!  I can feel a "fluttering" at times.  I'm going for an EKG today.  I think it might be from the Arava, not sure.Emmasa01 - I wondered if it might be the Arava... but I don't think I was on it when it started.  If the EKG doesn't show anything and you are still concerned, ask for a holter (you wear it for 24 hours, so they get a better sense).  Some irregular beats each day are normal (around 100-200 or so), and some folks just feel them more than others...

Thanks, Joonie.  I've been around both boards, but I tend to read more than post.  When I feel good... I don't remember to read.  When I feel bad, I don't feel like typing. LOL   I always thing there are so many other members here who know so much more that I can't add much ;)

Nice to see you too.

Sorry to hear of your troubles.  Don't they always come in multiples?

Were you on MTX at any time before you conceived your son?

No, Blithe.  I had never had joint problems before then (or chemo).  I was, however, living in what I consider a "sick city."  I'm not sure what it is exactly, but people do very poorly there.  For example, I had 1 filling in my life before moving there and my spouse had zero.  In 2 years there, I got 6 and he got 10.  We moved and have been here 8 years and have both had zero.  Most everyone there has a mouth full of fillings.  There is a lot of cancer and autoimmune stuff.  Ick.

Are you taking prednisone? Were you taking it during the holter test?

I can no longer take pred because it causes irregular beats.

Did you get RA when you were living in the "sick city".  (I am curious where)  Environmental toxins are believed to cause auto-immune diseases.  One thing I have learned, it is one thing after another with RA but many times they are just scares.  I pray your son is ok.  Your children's health becomes more important than our own.  Let us know what happens with the heart test.  We want you well
