What causes this Pain? | Arthritis Information

I am truly embarrassed I am posting so much but I have so many questions.  I am trying to work as a ranger, deal with this diagnosis, wonder how I am going to pay for it, and I don't have family and my fiance is away and working.  I am hoping you guys can be my family for now.

Yesterday doc told me to get a pneumonia vaccine.  The pain has been subsiding since the pred. injection and I was feeling pretty good about returning to work.  Memorial weekend is a very busy weekend for a ranger.  Anyway, the arm that I got the shot in is killing me.  It feels like RA pain.  I cannot raise it and it hurts clear to my shoulder.  Is this RA or is it the vaccine?

I am also wondering about your experiences with how weather effects RA and sun exposure with MTX or plaquenil.

Hoping you are having a good Memorial Day weekend.  I feel like mine is one BIG PITY PARTY         & nbsp;

Hi roxy. No need to be embarressed because you have a lot of questions, the more you learn the better off you'll be. I,ll start with weather effects. Yes, weather does effect a lot of people with RA. Its to do with pressure change (highs to lows and vice versa). For me its rainy, stormy days that cause me to ache. Plaquinal can often cause photosensativity to the skin, so wear a good sunscreen while at work (being a ranger i'd imagine you'd be out and about a lot). I was on plaquinal a few years back and used to get sunburned quite a bit, even during the winter.

I've posted a link here for MTX, which might be of some use

http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/medmaster/a68201 9.html

Side effects from pneumonia vaccines do include joint aches, so as you only got the shot yesterday - this should pass soon enough.

I noticed in your other post your having trouble with your insurance, dont know much about that (as i'm not in the U.S.A.). But i know theres a recent post from last week which has links to sites that might be of some use. It shouldnt be too far back.

Have a good weekend, and keep smiling

I'm have no experience about the vaccine causing joint pains...not surprising though as many do.  But, I do know that I am small boned and no matter how gentle they are when giving me a shot...my arm hurts like crazy after.  Then it always seems I increase pain after shots.  Except for the pred ones that are in my bum.
As for feeling that you're asking too many questions, you're not.  The only way to learn is ask.
It's probably from the needle.  I had a pneumonia vaccine about five years ago.  The needle goes pretty far into the muscle, and I remember having pain for a few days.Thanks you guys.   I was up most of the night with my arm and I cannot raise it over my head.  I think it is the RA coincidentally in the same arm as injection.  Damn.  Off to work this am but I look forward to coming home to read today's posts.  Roxanne
