Just for fun I thought I would share something with you but let me first explain why...
A few years ago I entered a scrapbook contest and won...a cruise! ;)
The cruise was great but one of the most memorable moments was
afterwards while waiting for a cab. An older couple approached me and
asked if I was the girl who won the cruise, I told her yes and she
introduced herself and her husband. When I won I was asked to give a
bio about myself for the magazine that was publishing it. I chose to
mention that I had RA and how I didn't let it stop me. This woman
thanked me for that. She also said that I had been an inspiration to
both her and her husband whom both suffered from different ailments.
It's funny how meeting someone whom I inspired actually inspired ME.
I have never been a role model, in fact I get down on myself for lack
of accoplishments, feeling useless, good ol' RA depression. ;) But this
gave me a drive, a drive to share my story, to be proactive and very
forthcoming about my dissability. Winning that contest got me noticed
in the industry too and now I do freelance work with two big companies,
one who has expressed their desire to have me work for them soley. I am
so excited about this!! Oh, and I work on my own schedule which is
great and both companies have been very understnding about my RA
limitations!
With that said I thought that some of you might get a kick out of an
album I did a couple years ago for another contest...nope didn't win
that one...LOL, but I love the album. I did it on my life with RA.
Looking back there is a tonne of stuff I could add now but I am
thankful I did it. The link is in my signature. When I loaded the album
I did it backwards..ooops...so start at the bottom of the page and work
your way backwards. I'm sure it will bring a few laughs to those who
can relate!
Very nice Danea! You're very creative! I've bookmarked that site since I've just started scrapbooking...looks like a nice place to get a few ideas.
Wow, thanks for sharing. Your scrapbook was beautifully done and I enjoyed reading your journaling. I am sorry you hve had to endure so much. It sounds like you have a wonderful family and husband. Here's hoping you have many more good days ahead!
I am a Shriner's Kid too!
Your story touched my heart. You have a wonderful family. You are pretty neat too. Thanks guys, I thought afterwards that I hope people realize I included the journalling underneith each picture.
Rereading it I noticed how outdated my surgery list is now...haha. I
just had two knuckles replaced on my right hand and my right wrist
fused in July. You should see this contraption I have to wear right now
because of all the reconstructive ligament work the doc did. Oh and
because it appears some of the wrist screws have retracted also...
Sweet! Needless to say it tends to attract a wee bit of attention! I
have at least two more months in this puppy! Looks like I'll be
attending a scrap industry trade show next month so I am going to try
and pretty this baby up! LOL.
