Methotrexate-will fuzzy brain get better? | Arthritis Information

Share

Howdy. I took my third weekly dose of methotrexate this morning (previous weeks were 5 mg, then 10, and today was the first full 15-mg dose which I'll apparently now take weekly). I've been in a major brain fog and somewhat lightheaded all day. Can any of you tell me whether I can expect this problem to subside anytime soon? I really hate feeling unproductive for any length of time, and I'm fuzzy enough that I'm almost afraid to go up and down the stairs in our house, etc.

Of course, the GOOD news is that I sure don't feel as stiff and sore today as I normally do!

Thanks for any insights!

Call your doc.  What you are experiencing sounds like a side effect from too high of a dosage.  I had severe nausea at that dosage level and dropped down a level and do really well now.

Hi Jodi, I've been on Methotrexate since 1998 with doses between 10 and 17.5 mg... I've always had a light headed, fuzzy, blecky feeling for about 24 hrs (if I haven't taken the folic acid, then I can count on that residual stuff longer). I Usually take my meds on a weekend night so I sleep through most of my side effects.
