I've only been on methotrexate for 2 weeks (next dose is supposed to be tomorrow). I don't like to call the doctor for every little thing, but don't want to suffer either. I've been so sick since starting the mtx and feel nauseous, chillls, just yucky all the time. I've lost 7 lbs since starting it 2 weeks ago (and am at a low-normal weight). I've gotten my period again.....only 12 days since my last period started and I'm bleeding very heavily, have pain on lower left side and have a lot of heavy clots. I feel like sleeping most of the time and don't have the energy to do anything. I also feel very weak and sort of dizzy. I can't stand to just lie around and usually just try to work through feeling bad, but this time I feel like I just can't.Is this something normal with mtx and will pass? Should I take my dose tomorrow? At what point do you call your doctor? I'm taking folic acid the days I don't take the mtx. I'm drinking as much water as I can and also juices, gatorade. Any other advice on how to stop feeling so weak? Thanks for reading. Love, J
Your periods sound a lot like mine.
I would call your doctor and tell him/her what's going on. Better to be on the safe side.
Please call your doc. That's what you pay them for right??? Maybe he/she can give you something to feel better.

When I started MTX, my doctor started me on a low dose and then eased it up slowly over several months. Talk to your doctor about the side effects...it might be that starting out more slowly and giving your body more time to adapt would help. I had similar symptons of nausea, dizziness, fatigue, etc. but not nearly as extreme as what you are describing.Definitely give your doctor a call. They should certainly be aware of any side effects you are experiencing. It sounds very uncomfortable! Please keep us updated on how you are doing! Take god care.
