I’m always tired. | Arthritis Information

Hello all.

My name is Megan. This is my first time here. I am 22 years old and was diagnosed with JRA about 11 yers ago. I had fevers of up to 105 two times a day everyday. Over a year passed. I dropped 15 pounds, was taken out of school, and had every test done to me, twice. After 8 months of not knowing what was going on, I finally had skin taken out of me (due to a rash) to be tested. It came out positive for JRA. I was put on methotrexate and predisone for about a year. Finally, I was in remission.

I'm back to normal now. I work almost full time and I am a student full time. I feel like I have no free time and sleep about 12 hours a night. Does anyone else feel the same? I eat really healthy food, exercise, and try to keep to a strict schedule, but I can't seem to feel good during the day. Any suggestions?

Fatigue is a horrible symptom associated with RA. Even when other joint pain is not bothersome we often can't shake the fatigue and over all not quite right feeling.

I don't have any magic answer for you....I wish I did but it sounds like you are doing everything with in your power to help it. A good diet along with rest and exercise is a good thing to do for yourself. Don't give that up.

Welcome to AI. Hope to see you here more often.

Geesh Megan, you work almost full time and are a full time student AND you manage to sleep 12 hours a day.  No wonder you don't have any free time!!

That's very true. Altering your schedule to accomidate your fatigue isn't a bad idea...but it's not always practical either is it?

It's not, and that really sucks. :( But you can alter a lot of things to help out so you can get more rest. Check out some of the "tips" posts. :)
