How long is your flare? | Arthritis Information

I've been worried lately about whether or not I'm in a flare or whether my Enbrel has lost its edge.  I've been on a difficult flare for over three weeks now - is that average? How long do flare's last.  I've had short-term flares before that lasted a week or less, but three weeks? I read a thread the other day about someone having a flare for two years? HELP.

Thanks

I see alot of people have looked at this, but not replied. I believe you can be in a flare anywhere from 2 days to 2 years. It all depends. If YOU have never had a flare last longer than what you're experiencing, I'd ask your Dr. I've had flares last a year, I've also had them last 3 days. It just depends. :/ Sorry. Katie- I'm afraid you might be right.  Maybe I've been luck so far and just haven't had long-term flares.  I think the word flare is misleading - there is nothing flare about it. I guess the rhetorical question would be whats the difference between fast progressing RA and a long-term flare?  Can I have some cheese with my whine!

Remember also... the weather has NOT been on any of our sides of late.   Seems that we are having a cooler and sooner fall then what we are accustom to.   Also, we are to have a colder than normal winter.   I totally believe that a lot of my flares are brought on by the weather... stress... and exhausting myself either from doing too much or that going to be sick thing.

Be sure like suggested that you discuss this with our RD.

I have been in a continuous "flare" since about six month after my diagnosis. Enbrel, methotrexate and etc are just a mask. After the mask comes off, the flare comes back and I literally cannot move.

I am afraid that 2manyches i sright on. Flares do not last years, that is an active case of RA. I guess you were in a remission of sorts, and it started out as a flare and developed into an active case. Check with your RA Doc and some med changes could be the order of the day.
