Has anyone had success (or not) taking Arava along with Humira?

After taking Arava for several years I began Humira injections in May and
have had fantastic results. My dr suggested in July I discontinue the Arava
and monitored my progress. I recently began having pain and swelling
almost to the day he said the Arava would be out of my system so he thinks
I will need Arava along with Humira. Has anyone else used this
combination?

FusieNo sorry, I was told to cease taking the Arava when I started Humira.

Ask your RD why he had you stop the Avara and if you can take something else along with the Humira like methotrexate or plaquenil.

Hope you start feeling better soon!

I have been on Arava and Humira in addition to Plaquenil for 1 year.  It worked very well in the beginning, but I believe that in this period of time, my body has gotten immune to it and it does not seem to be working as effectively.  I am expecting my Rheumatoligist to switch things up in the near future.  Change may be a good thing!

Hi !
I've just visited this forum. Happy to get acquainted with you. Thanks.I am on Arava and Humira too, I was whining to my Rheumy the other day about "so many pills" and she said they have found that smaller doses of combinations of drugs works for some people better than just one med.  I hate it but I think she is right.  I have been trying to build myself up with some vitamins and stuff too so I am taking a few extras.  I had gastric bypass surgery  7 yrs ago and lost 165 pounds mainly to help my arthritis because my MDs all told me I would be in a wheelchair in 5 years.  So losing the weight was great BUT I now have trouble with Anemia, and low calcium, and iron.  I always take vitamins but now I am working on some more high octaine so to speak vitamins etc.
I have done a lot of research on trying to feel better. I am going to start swimming at our local pool.  Wish me luck.  I haven't done that for a long time.
