LAZ et al.: mouth sores - remedy? | Arthritis Information

This summer, I actually was experiencing "geographic tongue" (yes, it's a syndrome!)

I was having crazy allergic reactions to anything hot, spicy, sharp (even a popcorn hull or a stick of cinnamon chewing gum or a hot coffee or something with vinegar in it).

Since then, I have been drinking 6-8 ounces of tart cherry juice twice a day (great antioxidant, full of vitamin C and also beneficial for joint inflammation).  Not only have my joints been better, but the tongue sensitivity has drastically improved.

* Do not confuse tart cherry or Montmorency cherry with ashwagandha, which is Indian winter cherry.  Indian winter cherry can make the immune system more active, which can cause fevers and flare ups. *

The high doses of B vitamins I've been taking recently could also be helping.  But whatever the specific cause of the healing of my mouth, I am thankful and will continue to take the tart cherry juice and B vitamins.

I have also found liquid aloe vera (George’s brand) helpful for stomach upset and constipation issues, and am now trying CMO for joint pain.

I have been doing a lot better, have gotten back to physical therapy and occupational therapy to work out joint contractures, and have been able to stave off MTX/Enbrel for the time being.
