lower neck clavical swelling | Arthritis Information

I have  PMR and have all the classic symptoms you all have, but have never heard anyone say they have extreme pain and swell at neck where it joins the clavical or collarbone.  I had the swelling before they began prednisone treatment.  Does anyone know about this or have you heard of anyone else with this particular problem.  Thanks,Betsy

Betsy, ask that they evaluate your shoulder and your neck both. I have this problem. I have a combination of bone cyst, bone spur, tendonitis in my shoulder and OA in my cervical spine.

I have RA, which is a bit different. But these problems, I believe, can also occur with your condition.

Certainly to not ignore them. By the time that I got my doctor to really look at it, I had permanent damage. Insist on a physical exam and xrays, even MRIs. A referral to an orthopedist and physical therapy may also be in order.

Thanks Deanna, You are the only one I've heard from so that makes me think this doesn't happen to everyone with PMR.  I am going Monday morning.  I was already thinking about asking for an MRI.  They have done my spine, neck, hands, and feet, but no one has ever even looked at my collarbone and clavical area, though I have always had lots of pain there.    I have 3 distinct swollen round places there at all times.  Thanks for taking time to answer.  Have a nice weekend!
