Cortisone Shot in the Foot | Arthritis Information

I got my first shot of cortisone near the ball of my foot today.  I've been limping around, wondering if this flare is ever going to go away or whether the Enbrel has lost its majic.  Its the same old whine. Any advice on how to calm down the inflamation and pain in the ball/metatarsol joint.

I have had the cortisone shots there also.  Yes Ice is the best! Mine was painful for a long time after the shot. Seemed like the shot was worse than the pain was to begin with, but it will calm down. Call your dr if it doesn't he may recommend a certain pain reliever also.Thoes cortisone shots hurt so bad!  I had 5 in each foot.  It was one of the most painful thing I have ever had done!  Took down the swelling and help a little with pain for about 2 weeks.

Ice Ice Baby...

Vanilla ICE ICE BABY

All right stop collaborate and listen
Ice is back with my brand new invention
Something grabs a hold of me tightly
Flow like a harpoon daily and nightly
Will it ever stop yo I don't know
Turn off the lights and I'll glow
To the extreme I rock a mic like a vandal
Light up a stage and wax a chump like a candle
Dance go rush to the speaker that booms
I'm killing your brain like a poisonous mushroom
Deadly when I play a dope melody
Anything less than the best is a felony
Love it or leave it you better gain weight
You better hit bull's eye the kid don't play
If there was a problem yo I'll solve it
Check out the hook while my DJ revolves it

Trixie. Why. Do you have any idea how LONG I'm going to walk around with this stuck in my head now? *sobs* THE LYRICS DONT EVEN MAKE SENSE. EVEN FOR A RAPPER! Oh, the humanitiy...

My podiatrist cut a U shape out of a felt self-adhesive pad and stuck it to the insole of my tennis shoe so that the inflamed 2nd toe joint (in the ball of my foot) was over the empty cut out. And gave me a cortisone shot in that joint. It worked so well I cancelled the appt for a 2nd shot 4 weeks later.

I think I wore those dumb shoes for 2 months but that joint totally calmed down. It has behaved for almost 3 years now. I really think getting my weight off that joint helped as much as the cortisone.

Too many cort. shots can damage the tendons in that area.  I was told 1 per year only was best.

HAHAHA I love the vanilla Ice lyrics. But its so true. I have two shots in both feet -- never seems to bother me. NOTHING like RA foot inflammation.

didnt really relieve much pain at the time either

I have a stabilizer boot that I wear when the RA and osteo in my foot are kicking. It really helps by getting the pressure off of the painful spots. This is just a temporary fix, but it does help until the area is calmed down. I don't know what the long term answer for it is...

I know just what you mean, Thats what hurts the most is my feet. It's okay if I don't stand on them but as soon as I do I could
