I found out why I was sooo tired! | Arthritis Information

So I went to the rheumatologist on friday and had a mental break down. I told hium my symptoms: constantly tired and always sleeping, minor headaches, muscle pain, and kinda worried becuase of these new symptoms. He touched a series of pressure points around my knees, hips, wrists, and ankles and the conclusion: FIBROMYALGIA. Yes, finally, I can get reliefe. It is not bad. It associates with rheumatism and is a syndrome with muscle pain and fatigue. Beneifts are: not degenerate, manageable, and a good lifestlye change. From now on I'm not allowed to take naps and I'm only allowed to sleep 8 hours a night. Its kinda like a sleep disorder also where your body does not allow you to have REM sleep- which is the most important.

I've been through a struggle but I feel so much better. The first two days were very very hard- I was so tired from only 8 hours of sleep(I'm used to 12) but I woke up this morning and went for a short 15 minute run and feel great!

You treat this disease with exercise!! Its actually very easy- 45 minutes of cardio every day. but as you can see- I'm up to 15 minutes- I'm letting my joints warm up for the first week. My dr. said if I eat healthy, exercise 45 minutes a day, and only get 8 hours of sleep a night, I should feel a 10% increase a week! wow!

so for all of you who are constantly tired- go for a walk, stretch, or swim! Take my advise- EXERCISE!! You will feel so much better!

Hi, I have fibro too in addition to RA. When you start to exercise, you want to do it gradually and maybe every other day instead of every day. Water exercise, especially in warm water is really helpful. Slowly do more repititions and add to your exercises. If you do too much too fast, you will hurt. Exercise will make you feel a lot better mentaly, but you have to be careful not to overdo it.What great advice Sportiemeg!  I have FM too - but haven't ever been told that.  Thanks for the info!
