Humira Tip | Arthritis Information

I do not know if anyone else knew this, as I did not and asked the pharmacist today, after order my refills.

See, last week one of my Huirma shots got room temperature as it got left out oppps

Anyways... the pharmacist said it could be left out at room temperature for 48hrs before they suggest you not to use it. She also said that she would not recommend doing that all the time, only for like if you forget it laying out or something like that.

Figured this might help someone else out, as I did not even know it would still be good.

If you leave your Humira out before you do your shot for it to warm to room temp it will also help take away the sting of the med.

They told you that at the Humira hotline? 48hours is a LONG time. I sure wouldn't advise it. Sounds kind of odd to me.

I do leave mine out 30 minutes or so before I use it.....but I think I'd be a tad weary of 48 hours!!

I get 4 at a time and would consider my shipment ruined after 48 hours.

Go figure.

Hummm... I guess I did not make myself clear.

One of my shots got left out, you know they come 2 to a box, well I used one and the other one in the box got left out and not put back in the refridge, so it got to room temperature before I realized I had not put it back in the refridge.

I did not use it, the next week as I did not call to see if it was still usable, so I just opened my other box I had.

I called to refill my Humira today, as I will need it by Monday if the one Humira shot that had gotten left out was not usable, so I called to order my refill and then asked if I could talk to a pharmacist, and I told her how the shot had gotten left out for about 20+ mins and it was no longer cold when I found it and asked if I was still usable, and she said that it was as long as I had put it back in the refridge when I found it. And that it could be left out up to 48 hours unknowingly, and still be usable.

I usually leave mine out until hubby decides he is going to give it to me... longest was 2hrs

Anyways... if you ACCIDENTALLY leave your shot out or forget to put it back in the refridge and it has been less than 48 hours and has been at room temperature you can still use it at a later time when you put it back in the refridge.

I was going to throw away that injection and waste what?? 0??

I know my mom said her insulin can be left accidentally at room temperature for up to 48 hours before before it was no longer usable.

Anyways... just thought I would share something with everyone.

"And that it could be left out up to 48 hours unknowingly, and still be usable"

Humira can't be left out for 48 hrs. Sorry, I think your pharmy is wrong.

Strangely, I just got home from CVS without my Rx, they left my Humira out, in the regular area, since it came in two days ago!

I think I'll call the hotline tomorrow to double check. Hey, maybe my pharmy's the wrong one! It would be great if we can leave it out that long.

Well, that is what she told me. She said according to the manufacture, Abbott, that it could be left out up to 48 hours.

I was going to call the hotline, but when I remember about calling, I always remember too late and they are no longer there. Might call tomorrow, to double check.

But, like me & hubby was talking I would probably not use it if it was left out for that long (48hrs). I am possibly going to use the one I have that got left out, since it was not left out that long only about 20 mins. But I probably would not use one if it was left out overnight, as my house gets hot around 9am & like in the 80's - 90's. So... that is not room temperature.

"Well, that is what she told me. She said according to the manufacture, Abbott, that it could be left out up to 48 hours."

Wow, that's great! Thanks. I always worry about leaving it (and Enbrel and the like) out to warm up. My rheumy made it sound like if you look at it wrong it might go bad.

It was late tonight when I went to go pick up the Humira, so my pharmy didn't have a chance to call Abbott. (Ooo, I bet he threw it away already. He'll be upset if he calls to double check!)

I did once leave mine in the car over night; but it was a cool night and the freezer packs were still keeping it cold.

Few of us are likely to forget for two straight days.....it is good to know that if we do by chance forget for a few hours we'll be in the clear.
