Is anybody else on Hydroxychloroquine Sul | Arthritis Information

I am on Hydroxychloroquine Sulfate Tabs   (200MG twice a day).  Is anyone else on this??  It is normally used to treat and prevent Malaria.

I am also on Fenoprofen Calcium Tabs (Anti-inflam)   (600MG 3-4 times a day)

This combo worked fairly well until the fall temps started to roll in.  I always have just a dull nagging pain in mostly my hands and fingers and sometimes toes.

I am doing anything I can to stay off the Prednisone!!!!

Thats the generic for placquenil.  Its one of the first drugs precribed because it milder and usually well tolerated.  I've been on it for 10 months.  Unfortunately, its not enough for me and I'm also on humira weekly injections AND prednisone!

Even with the best of treamtents, I was told there will still be flares.

I'm also on mtx and Celebrex, with pred. for the really bad days which at the moment don't happen too often as prolonged use of pred. can  have its own set of problems such as weakening bones.

Have you asked your rheumy about adding another med. to help with your pain, stiffness and mobility?  You might have to try a few different ones - sometimes what works in one person's body doesn't help in another.

I have been on Plaquenil for about 13 years and have had no problems with my eyes.  I do have to have them examined twice a year by an opthomologist.  Yes it was used for malaria and discovered that it was also slowing the progression of RA in people with the disease.  Hope is works well for you.

Have a Blessed Day
