my severe pain in my wrist went away for a couple hours but is just starting up again. is this normal?

Fraid so.

Just when you think you're in the clear...here it comes again.

Welcome to life with RA. Hope you feel better soon.

Lovie

I hate this part of it...really makes me feel I'm imagining things.  And it can be lightning quick too.  I had a hard time explaining why one hour I was limping and the next I was fine.

Doesn't that just drive you nuts?  One minute everything is in working order and not feeling too bad the next you can't move your fingers, wiist, feet or whatever body part has decided to not work.

Wayney,  I know what you mean, I will ask my husband for some help in opening a jar, a can, or even helping me with the buttons on my sweater and the next minute I'm out gardening or washing the car........I know he doesn't understand that it really does change from minute to minute and that I'm truly not asking him for this help because I'm being lazy....it's just simply that I can't at that moment function that body part :(  I don't understand it I guess I can't expect others too.

Yes, Skymaxx, that seems to be the way it goes -- it can change hour to hour, minute to minute -- sometimes attacking all the joints and sometimes just a joint or two.  It's really crazy-making.  Last night it was my hips and knees that were screaming and today it seems to be my shoulders and wrists that want all the attention.  My hands always seem to be bad -- the only place this disease seems constant.wow i guess it is normal

I'm sorry Sky...I couldn't resist. The only things that really gets better is the way you learn to deal with it.

You'll have good times and bad...and as time goes on you learn to cope with it better; but no...no body here will promise you it will get better.

Medication will help you manage better though. Once you are on a good treatment plan it will improve greatly.

Again; I didn't mean to offend you with my laughter...there are no stupid questions here; just stupid jokes like i just made.

But we've got to get our laughs somewhere....if we can't get any new vendors in hereLovie, couldn't of answered it any better. This is just an example:I turned the computer on 2 hrs ago ,so i could check the board, had it on about 5 minutes,my hands ,wrist, elbows, knees, ankles, you name it hurt.had to turn it off.I'm on now,and things are movable.I'm weaning down on prednisone-on 12.5mg a day-but driving a ton of miles over the road.So very stiff.Take care SherryLovie- no offense taken at all ...my humor can be sarcastic and goofy at times so don't mind me

As for today i woke up stiff it took me a good 90 mins to finally get myself up...I ate breakfast then it was downhill from there.. My wrists started acting up then my whole hand went, my knees started hurting then my shoulders , I was so depressed..i am not responding to the Diclofenac 75mg so i took the vicodin.. I felt extrememly week and just laid on the couch all day... i was able to get my appointment moved to Monday..so i'm hoping i have a good RD.... also what i had noticed was the areas where i have the pain are burning...i took my temperature because i thought i was getting sick and i my temperature was only 99.8. Is is typical for those areas to have a burning sensation? and thank you all for your wonderful support! you have a suspicion of RA right or have you gotten a dx?  I'm not remembering and could go back and check but then I'd switch screens and my luck loose this part.  Anyway, has anyone mentioned fibromyalgia to you?  for me..I don't get the burning with RA but i do with fibro,  but that is just me.

HI everyone, My name is Rita and I'm trying to find out if anyone knows way the pharmacy can't get methotrexate injections any more.My rheumatologist wrote me an RX yesterday when I went to get it filled today they said that the supplier no longer get it. Has anyone heard anything about this? Thanks  RitaThere has been a supply problem lately.  I'm not sure what it is exactly.  I think there was a problem with manufacturing it but...I dunno for sure.  Some people have been able to get the preservative free kind which must be refridgerated but since this has happened, it is getting harder to find as well.  If I see the info I read on it, I'll post it. Or hopefully, someone else actually knows and it's just doing what I am and saying I think this is it.

Wayney, Thank you so much I feel better knowing I wasn't in the twilight zone or something like that, The pharmacy or the DR's office didnt seem to know what was going on either.

                                                              Thanks Rita

i am glad i was able to help a bit.  in the morning i'll try to find the info i read on this.

 Thanks that would be great

wayney - I haven't been dx'd with RA, i go to my 1st appt with my RD on monday.. I'm gonna research fibromyalgia..Maybe by me doing this research and talking to my RD, they'll know not to BS me like my GP did..thanx again for the suggestion!
Skymaxx, I was having a lapse of brain working last night I think.  A good link as a comprehensive Fibro site is http://www.sover.net/~devstar/
In my opinion, it is one of the best sites around.  The author of the site Devin Starlanyl wrote what many consider to be "the bible" of fibro.  The books are called Fibromyalgia and Chronic Myofascial Pain Syndrome: A Survivor's Manual" and "The Fibromyalgia Advocate".  I've seen both referred to as being the best kind of source there is.

Doing the research is key.  You're right, it will prevent BS.  But also keep in mind many GPs are not informed when it comes to anything falling under that arthritis umbrella.  But, also...remember, ultimately the doc works for you. Any doc.  You are the one who should be in charge of your treatment.
Just a thought I thought I'd thrown in.
hugs, wayney
thanks for the info...i researched fibromyalgia, my main concern though is my excessive joint swelling..I was looking at my wrists today and it's still swelling on the Left side of my wrist but now it's starting to swell on the Right side and my knees are swollen...i'll continue to research but thanks for the info!oh i definitely agree on RA due to swelling but...the burning is the only reason i suggested fibro as it never happened to me until fibro dx.  that's all.  i definitely wouldn't wish it on anyone!

Hi Sky,

I just reread your post and wanted to ask you a question.  When I first read it last nite I like Wayney thought "burning sensation" and that made me think Fibro.  That is something I have learned from my friends here.  I do not have FM or the burning sensation. When I read your post this morning I took it differently.  Did you mean your joints are "burning" as in "hot"?  Temperature hot? that you feel heat when you put your hand on them?? That would be RA.  That was one of the first things my RD checked when I had my first apt. He felt each joint for swelling and heat.  I don't have much swelling, and my joints are a little warm at times, but not "burning".

Anyway it occured me that you might be describing heat coming from the joint as "burning", and I wanted to check and see.

I'm glad your apt is Monday, the sooner the better!!

Hey Pam,

yes, i mean burning as in hot to touch. i kept feeling my forearm then my wrists and swollen areas to compare the temperature difference.. Sorry if i caused confusion
