I am 44 years old just diagnosed with osteoperosis.  Have 13 rib fractures and 2 vertebra fractures.  Started taking forteo 3 months ago.  Anyone out there similar?

Deanna,

I too have osteoporosis and have been on Forteo for the limited 2 years at the end of the month.   I am scheduled for my bone density the middle of November for there to be a real comparison.

I have had compression fractures of my spine and right foot.  In fact I had been in a soft cast since April and they just did surgery on my foot 4 weeks ago.   They don't believe at this point that it has worked.   They so wanted to avoid the pins and screws for fear that the bones were too soft and brittle to hold them.   I really don't know what the next step is until I visit my RD on the 27th and the bone scan comes back.

Hope that this has helped... let me know if you have further questions.

I will have my first follow up bone density scan in February since starting Forteo.  I have been unable to work since January, mostly because of the rib fractures.  however, they now tell me I can't lift, push, pull anything over 10 lbs. so have no hope of going back to work any time soon.

I've also noticed, after 3 full months of forteo, my hip bones have started to hurt.  Is that the forteo?  Or coincidence?  Did you have any of these symptoms?

Thanks for the reply.

Deanna
