Does anyone have bursitis in their shoulder(s) ?  Is it RA related, do you  know?  Thanks!

Yes, I have it in my shoulder.

Yes, bursitis and tendonitis can both be related to RA.  RD should be able to give you a corisone shot in the shoulder to take it away if it's bad.

Yes, I have constant problems with both. RA and FM both cause this problem. When your doctor examines you, he/she should be looking at your mechanics. Sometimes you develop bursitis because you are either not using certain muscles or you're using them incorrectly to compensate for some other problem. An example would be that I got bursitis really bad in the back of my legs because of knee problems. It took physical therapy to work that out.

I get tendonitis from a bone spur and cyst in my shoulder and OA in my neck. The main way to work these out is exercises, alternating ice and heat. In fact, you might try those right away and if you can get someone to do deep massage with oil, it will help loosen those muscle up. If it hurts too much for that, then stop.

I have bursitis is a hip, and have had it for a year now. I've had cortisone shots once, use heat and massage, and it just won't go away.

grrrrrrrrr

I have bursitis in my hips as well.  I've been trying to get rid of it for three years.  Somedays its worse than others.  Done more pt than I can remember.  The higher dose of steroids for my ra seem to keep it a little more controlled but it sure is painful! Ice does seem to help if only temporarely!  I've had 3 shots in my right hip but they don't even help anymore!I've had the bursitits in my hip and my elbow. Yes you can have it in the shoulder as well.OUCH!!!Hmm I could google it...or I could ask my favorite people to tell me.. *grin* What's bursitis exactly, and what's it feel like? Like..how does it compare to regular RA pains? I was originally diagnosed with bursitis in my hip and rotater cuffs. It wond up being RA and those were flares. I haven't had a flare or the bursitis symptoms since I started Enbril in January!
